Re: HBO: Game of Thrones (Song of Ice and Fire)
Informative
People who found the episode difficult to see (too dark) should download some calibration clips and test patterns and use them to check their TV settings. For example:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9FgjT ... sp=sharing
Proper calibration is more in-depth and requires specialized equipment but some of the above patterns should at least get your brightness and contrast settings into the right ballpark.
It's worth noting that many tvs out of the box have a lot processing enabled by default : contrast boosters, "black enhancement" etc. These tend to render a picture which may seem more 'impressive' to the layman but can be very inaccurate and result in crushed blacks etc. Any of these 'vivid' or dynamic picture modes should generally be avoided.
Another common issue is mismatched HDMI levels, where your source (eg laptop, streaming stick etc) is sending a 0-255 signal but your TV is set to 16-235 or vice versa. This will result in a crushed or washed out image. The name of this setting varies by TV. Calibration clips will help to diagnose a mismatch.

Have you guys watched the Game Revealed behind the scenes feature yet? If you're interested in the actual craft of making this thing it's pretty phenomenal.
But I have to say one of my favorite parts is Peter Dinklage sort of half-snarkily talking about how stupid it was to put the women and children in a crypt. How no one thought this shit through. He jokes, "Tyrion's smart but I guess not that smart." They way he says it is hilarious.

Yes, I don't think we'll agree here either. Jaime is no innocent angel, but it's difficult for me to see the reasoning behind him being seen as worse than people with countless lives on their hands, not killed in battle, but just because of what family or class they belong to.durdencommatyler wrote:Like I said, we have different rubrics/perspectives on this stuff. Daenarys have several times killed people (I will answer injustice with injustice), she didn’t know were guilty (guilt by association), or executed those who didn’t want to join her (like the Tarly’s).

Seriously, if they released S8 Ep2 & 3 together in IMAX theaters as a 3 hour feature film event... would you go see it?
100% I would.

There is also that episode of Seinfeld where Elaine stops having sex and becomes a moron (and George stops having sex and becomes a genius).Simple Torture wrote:Backed up from balls to brains.Mecca wrote:Tyrion was a lot smarter when he was having regular sexdurdencommatyler wrote:Have you guys watched the Game Revealed behind the scenes feature yet? Going back to this... watching the BTS thing I mentioned... the director talks about how at one point they "ran out of stunt guys to throw at" Sam and so he literally (the actor) just sat down and started crying and they thought it was so brilliant that they kept it in.cutuphalfdead wrote:You mean improbably survived despite just crying on the ground while the undead swarm around him?durdencommatyler wrote:The way Sam was handled in this ep was perfect.dimejinky99 wrote:Well..except Tarly

Looks like that’s it for Arya in terms of big stuff. She says in this clip all her training was leading to this point to kill him. Cersei is someone else’s problem I’d say
