She pulled an Edmure. My people, they were afraid.durdencommatyler wrote:Your description doesn't match what I've seen. Here motivations have always made sense to me. She's flawed, of course. All the characters on GoT are. There is depth and complexity. But "spoiled" and "despotic" are not words I would ever use to describe her.dimejinky99 wrote:durdencommatyler wrote:Listening to commentary today... reading through RM... reading tons of stuff on the internet... one thing is 100% clear to me. The show fucked up Dany. The tremendous amount of misunderstanding around that character is staggering.
Or rather... that sounds stuck up... I don't mean that... I guess, I think the character is really misunderstood. The commentary I'm seeing just doesn't make sense to me. It's totally possible that I'm wrong about the character. I guess I just wish people saw her the way I do. Because so much of the stuff I'm seeing feels off and not at all supported by the text.
On the surface she looks poorly written.
Totally flaky and leaps from noble and full of common sense and idealism to cantankerous and spoiled and despotic. Within episodes.
It looks like bad writing. It might be.
Or maybe she’s Targaryen and that’s how they are?
Like, last night, she made mistakes. The entire plan breaks down because she leaves the cliff with Jon. But she leaves because of her heart. She leaves because she just watched her people get wiped out and she can't stand still and do nothing. Is it a mistake to abandon the plan? Of course, but her motivations are good. Her heart is good. What she wants and the desire that pulls her is coming from such a beautiful and empathetic place that it just breaks my heart. I have to root for Dany. She's one of the only people in this story that fucking cares.

I like how a big part of their plan was to gift the white walkers their entire dothraki horde before the battle started.

They're not exactly known for their fighting skills in formation. It makes sense for their skillset.BurtReynolds wrote:I like how a big part of their plan was to gift the white walkers their entire dothraki horde before the battle started.

Watched this again with my wife (who was out of town yesterday and didn't watch it).
Was even better the second time. Her reaction the Arya killing the Night King was so worth it.

Oh ok that makes sense to give the entire dothraki horde to the dead team then. I didn't realize they couldn't stay in formation. Makes total sense now.Monkey_Driven wrote:They're not exactly known for their fighting skills in formation. Don't...I don't know...park them on the other side of the castle and then flank or anything. The mongol hordes never did stuff like that in history.

They could have certainly split the charges or brought them in from multiple sides, but it ultimately didn't matter. Except Theon. Theon is a piece of shit. No redeeming Theon. Buh bye.

However many pages pack, someone was asking who Yohn Royce is.
My first answer was going to be: The guy with the huge breastplate.
Then it dawned on me: He’s the character with the largest breasts on the show. I mean he’s gotta be packin’ under there, right?

Knew I’d seen him. Wrong place though. Maester Luwin was first out of his crypt

21 things we may have missed. I like this one
Winter Fell.
As in, here's the place where the war ended and the Night King was defeated.
It's not a coincidence that the home of House Stark has that name.

Same.
I would have preferred having her take out Cersei over the Night king but who knows what they have in store.
Cersei might outlast all of them and keep the throne
Well her plan did work so far.
"The monsters are real. Dragons, White Walkers, Dothraki screamers. Let the monsters kill each other. We will deal with whatever is left," said Cersei.
Well...
Night King gone - ✓
Dothraki gone - ✓
Half or most of Northern army gone - ✓
Cersei's troops are alive and well - ✓

But I have to say one of my favorite parts is Peter Dinklage sort of half-snarkily talking about how stupid it was to put the women and children in a crypt. How no one thought this shit through. He jokes, "Tyrion's smart but I guess not that smart." They way he says it is hilarious.
I did watch. I love that stuff.

My oh says they’re not on YouTube but I can usually find em
The game of thrones exhibit opens in titanic studios in Belfast next month. Where they film it. All the costumes and props.
You fuckin know I’m goin up for that. It’s only a 90 minute drive.
Oh wow. A walkthrough and review of the exhibit.
It looks and sounds (and smells?!) fuckin epic

I want to see what this version of Cersei does if shit goes south on her again. Will she run and hide and attempt to kill herself like she did at Blackwater? Or does this new and improved Cersei have so few shits left to give that she comes out swinging?dimejinky99 wrote:She wanted elephants to move around the giant crossbows they’ve made to kill dragons
