Listening to commentary today... reading through RM... reading tons of stuff on the internet... one thing is 100% clear to me. The show fucked up Dany. The tremendous amount of misunderstanding around that character is staggering.

Or rather... that sounds stuck up... I don't mean that... I guess, I think the character is really misunderstood. The commentary I'm seeing just doesn't make sense to me. It's totally possible that I'm wrong about the character. I guess I just wish people saw her the way I do. Because so much of the stuff I'm seeing feels off and not at all supported by the text.

On the surface she looks poorly written.
Totally flaky and leaps from noble and full of common sense and idealism to cantankerous and spoiled and despotic. Within episodes.
It looks like bad writing. It might be.

Your description doesn't match what I've seen. Here motivations have always made sense to me. She's flawed, of course. All the characters on GoT are. There is depth and complexity. But "spoiled" and "despotic" are not words I would ever use to describe her.

Like, last night, she made mistakes. The entire plan breaks down because she leaves the cliff with Jon. But she leaves because of her heart. She leaves because she just watched her people get wiped out and she can't stand still and do nothing. Is it a mistake to abandon the plan? Of course, but her motivations are good. Her heart is good. What she wants and the desire that pulls her is coming from such a beautiful and empathetic place that it just breaks my heart. I have to root for Dany. She's one of the only people in this story that fucking cares.

They could have certainly split the charges or brought them in from multiple sides, but it ultimately didn't matter. The Unsullied took one for the team too.

Have you guys watched the Game Revealed behind the scenes feature yet? If you're interested in the actual craft of making this thing it's pretty phenomenal.

But I have to say one of my favorite parts is Peter Dinklage sort of half-snarkily talking about how stupid it was to put the women and children in a crypt. How no one thought this shit through. He jokes, "Tyrion's smart but I guess not that smart." They way he says it is hilarious.

I did watch. I love that stuff.
