I think the memory will come from C3PO, not R2D2. He was made by Anakin.

He’s been hugely underserved in this trilogy so far
Totally agree. I'm glad it looks like 3PO will have more to do... but the lack of R2 pisses me off. I really hope he also contributes in a big way in this final chapter. It'll feel really weird/wrong if he doesn't since he's been around and actively participating since the very beginning.

He saves the day in each of the ot films and prequels. Not once yet in the sequels though unless you count waking up and telling them he has the map to Luke.

Can’t be. His memory has been wiped at the end of the prequels.

Could be interesting but JJ seemed really uninterested in 3PO and Rian outright hated him if you view it through the lines Poes given. Dismissed him and cuts him off constantly.

Maybe though.

I hate that Anakin made C3P0, that was stupid.

But

R2 has the plans to the Death Star in his memory. And the entire imperial archive.
What if they mine R2s memory looking for the plans to the emperors apartments to go find whatever maguffin it is?
The complete locations book shows us his private apartment atop the spire on Death Star II has some Sith relics and artefacts (and the med Center he creates Vader in on Coruscant was his secret lair was packed with Sith holocrons and relics and artefacts and a library of sith lore.)

They go to Death Star II wreckage looking for the thing but it isn’t there so they have to go to Coruscant and search the hidden lair in the med Center.
But the first order and kylo are there before them and battle ensues
I don't see that happening, but I'd fucking dig it if it does. :heartbeat:

Love where your heads at on this one.
Corusant was distracting to me because there was just too much going on, but I think it would be kinda cool to revisit the planet in 9 since it was such a critical part of the prequels / Clone Wars.

Probably the most stupid thing in the entire saga. It’s horrifically embarrassingly dumb.
And a completely unnecessary retcon/tie in.

Could well be they reestablish the republic there and Rey takes over the Jedi temple, if it’s still even standing. We don’t know that it is. Probably an empty shell I’d say Palps had its library and all aretfects destroyed.

Something they haven’t gone near in the stories so far apart from a comic. Vader killing Jocasta Nu and she has certain texts and holocrons hidden.

Coruscant is my favorite world. No problem with Anakin creating C3PO either.

I love Coruscant. I'm take or leave on Anakin making 3PO. I don't like it but it's not a deal breaker for me.

It's interesting because I never thought of "the big three" as the torchbearers for the future. Some people seem unable to get over not having Han, Leia and Luke be the main characters of the ST. That doesn't bug me because I never assumed they would be. If we were ever lucky enough to get a sequel trilogy, I never thought they'd be big factors in it.

But I did expect the droids to be. They basically "tell" the story of the OT and that continues in the PT (to a little lesser extent, but it's still there). I always thought when it was said and done that R2 and 3PO would be the one constant through all of it.

Obviously, I love most of what they've done with the ST but that change/diversion has been the most difficult for me.

You’re entering into your dad joke stage. This is like a new skin and layer of life settling upon you. Only a life lived well full of corn and cheese can get you to this stage.

I will be here and always be with you through this transition.
