Good point, I don't think she's like that, but if she did truly turn on Jon and became the "mad queen", then it would be interesting Rhaegal turned on her. I don't see it playing out like that though. I'm not sure what will happen, but I don't think it will be Cerci on the Iron Throne when all is said and done. If Jon survives, I'm not sure it will be him either, bc I don't think he wants it.durdencommatyler wrote:For something like that to happen though Jon has to perceive Dany as a real and true threat to everyone. That would be a pretty huge shift in her character. And maybe hard to pull off with the limited time remaining.

the question about where they've been was more to generically emphasize that there are still so many unanswered questions. i wasn't necessarily looking for precise answers at once like the old VH1 pop-up videos where they have blurbs during the actual fight sequences explaining things.E.H. Totally agree. No way Cersei maintains the throne. And I don't think Jon wants it either. IF there even is a throne left at the end of this, I think it'll be some else.darth_vedder wrote:Good point, I don't think she's like that, but if she did truly turn on Jon and became the "mad queen", then it would be interesting Rhaegal turned on her. But you're totally right. If Dany goes full Mad King (again, I think it would be hard to make that shift in one episode but that doesn't mean it's impossible), then it would be awesome to see one or both of her dragons turn on her. That would be unexpected and really fun to watch.

so, the reason i actually honed in on that question is because it's absolutely relevant to the future of the people in the show. supposedly the night king and the white walkers were defeated before (at winterfell). they then disappeared for a long time, where most people at the start of the series either didn't believe they were back or would quickly dismiss them (i'm looking at you ned stark). well, what happened to them? if they were supposedly gone for good before, how are we to believe they're gone now? and if they're not, how long before they return, and how?darth_vedder wrote:Same, I don't need to know the history of the smoke monster, err Night King, but if they would have gone there in a previous season and gotten more into the first men, the children of the forrest and the NK, I'd be fine too but I didn't feel it was absolutely necessary.durdencommatyler wrote:Good point.E.H. I guess I'm in the minority on this but I'm not sure that I ever needed more information about them. To me this is kind of like LOST and how people got really invested in things that were never meant to be explained or expanded on and as a result they felt cheated or misled or disappointed along the way.
All I ever needed was a motivation. Bran gave us that the other week, so I'm good. But I can totally sympathize with those that were hoping for more.

I'm with you on all of this. I just think that they should have done it seasons ago, not wait until now. This way, when they are "defeated" like in the last episode, there can be some callback for the audience with Jon or someone saying that they are gone... for now.Chris_H_2 wrote:the question about where they've been was more to generically emphasize that there are still so many unanswered questions. i wasn't necessarily looking for precise answers at once like the old VH1 pop-up videos where they have blurbs during the actual fight sequences explaining things.E.H. I wonder if it will end on a slightly ominous note, meaning not all the WWs are dead. Like the set it up to be a nice ending, then in the closing scenes we see a new threat?Chris_H_2 wrote:so, the reason i actually honed in on that question is because it's absolutely relevant to the future of the people in the show. supposedly the night king and the white walkers were defeated before (at winterfell). they then disappeared for a long time, where most people at the start of the series either didn't believe they were back or would quickly dismiss them (i'm looking at you ned stark). well, what happened to them? if they were supposedly gone for good before, how are we to believe they're gone now? and if they're not, how long before they return, and how?darth_vedder wrote:Same, I don't need to know the history of the smoke monster, err Night King, but if they would have gone there in a previous season and gotten more into the first men, the children of the forrest and the NK, I'd be fine too but I didn't feel it was absolutely necessary.durdencommatyler wrote:Good point.E.H. I get where you are coming from, it seemed a little underwhelming that all this build up about the dead and the only war that matters ended and most of Westeros (and all of Essos) have no effing idea what even happened or about the threat. It's still some fantasy to them, told by crazy old ladies like Nan.

I wonder if people would be so upset if the Battle of Winterfell was the penultimate episode of the series versus the fourth to last.

Read elsewhere that the dorn storyline is totally D&Ds invention and that’s why it’s kinda poorly written. Folks elsewhere hate it and say it’s the worst element of the series.

I thought this could be part of a good sequel series. Whoever ends up on the throne sends expeditions to the north to see what is left up there and to determine whether or not they need to rebuild the wall.doone wrote:You guys love to speculate, any guesses as the the future of the Wall? I can totally see a scenario where a new threat gets introduced at the very end, the wall gets rebuilt, and Jaime gets named Lord Commander of the Night's Watch. That's also my dream.

Re: HBO: Game of Thrones (Song of Ice and Fire)
Wasn’t there some kind of magical protection out on the wall?
Would they be able to recharge it with that once it’s rebuilt?
Also why rebuild it if the threat has been extinguished?
Send Cersei up alone to do it. She’s an ice queen.

Westeros RFD sounds amazing, great idea everyone
