I know I was. Buying more items only led to me getting more upset. Though I do feel bad about it and have 100% self awareness that my entitlement put me in the wrong in this exchange, I’m probably still going to recommend to the usual lady that her nephew should lighten up next time.

Do your local bodegas have similar policies, RM? It’s pretty common here, but this particular store is really the only place I feel like I don’t have to abide by the rule. Well, that and the one next to my job.

I feel this is unfair to the cashless class and a transparent attempt to line the pockets of credit card processing companies AND the Pepsi/Coke/Lays/Mars convenience store corporate behemoth. If you and your local bodega can agree, together, to fight the power, you should. This kid behind the counter was just doing his job as he was instructed to, but he needs to learn that life isn’t so black and white on either side of the counter. I feel bad for getting annoyed with him, but that’s as far as it goes.
