What movies are you watching?

A lot of people really seem to like The Love Witch from a few years ago too, but I haven’t seen it. Oh, and there’s A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night, which maybe-sorta counts.

Mother!

What a brilliant fucking film. So, I'm not well versed in horror as a genre, which I admit. I'm sure Mother! isn't the first (or probably even the best) openly feminist horror film but it's the first I've seen. And it's glorious.

If anyone has other recommendations for feminist horror films, I'm all ears. Please recommend.

I just don’t see any horror in its tone or tropes or aesthetic or feel or anything. I just see it as a surrealist art drama with a couple disturbing moments.

I'm gonna need to think and research about it more. If it's not a horror film, which I can totally accept, I still think it's feminist and profound. But my ignorance of the genre keeps me from fighting you in this.

Yeah, there is no way Mother! is a horror film. Nor a feminist one too.

The Lords Of Salem is a great recommendation...i just downloaded today to see it again soon. Im actually going to see most of Zombie´s films again preparing for Three From Hell.

I wouldn’t call mother! a horror film (nor would I call it feminist, frankly), but here’s noteworthy horror that could be called feminist:

I Spit on Your Grave
The Slumber Party Massacre

The Lords of Salem

These are all very good recommendations. I would add some slasher ones like Scream, Scream 2, Jennifer´s Body is also so fucking good, The Descent, Black Rock, Ginger Snaps, Halloween H20, Cam, The Loved Ones, Inside, Teeth.
