The Lords Of Salem is a great recommendation...i just downloaded today to see it again soon. Im actually going to see most of Zombie´s films again preparing for Three From Hell.
I'm fine not calling it a horror film. Like I said, I'm no expert on the genre. It felt like a horror film to me, but I'm fine dropping that label. It's 100% feminist though. But it doesn't surprise me that you and I have very different reads on the film.

What are your thoughts on that movie?
I have mixed feelings. It’s an impressive production, but I think it’s a bit tacitly racist/classist. That said, I think it’s like 13 Hours in that the filmmaker isn’t interested in politics; he simply wants to explore combat as an aesthetic force. You kind of traffic in that at your own political peril, though, IMO.

wait are you serious?
100%

Personally, I took it as being about the process of artistic creation.

That's totally in there, for sure. I can 100% get that read.

Climate change though? That's fucking weird. I need to look up the context of that statement. I'd love to hear him expand on that.

Should I watch Mother!? I liked all his other motion pictures that I've seen, including: Black Swan, Tree of Life, Requiem for a Dream, and The Wrestler. Is it like any of those motion pictures?

Yes you should watch it. He didn't make Tree of Life. It shares some similarities with some of those you listed, yeah.

Its is about climate change, about how humans treat the world and mother nature. At least thats what Darren hinted. Of course there are multiple views, but feminist is not one i would think about. Its feminist because its main lead is a women? Because there is little more to think of why would i thought its feminist.

Darren hinted about the house and her being kinda the world/mother nature.

That's weird. I mean, I guess if that's what he was thinking/intending, then there's something to it. But I never would have gotten there on my own.

It's very strange that a movie that lives on its colors still works when only two are present.

I was suspicious of a black and white cut, but I think it actually looks better.

That footage is not from the actual black-and-white version, is it? It looks awful, like a fan hastily converted the original trailer to b&w
