At my district, Head Start, Pre K, K-12 all receive active shooter drills, lockdown drills and evacuation drills. 7-12 receive ALICE training too.

I was, however, stunned to hear (local radio played a clip from it) how clear and unified the chant of "mental health" was. The conservative side of the aisle has done a great job of labeling gun violence as a mental health problem.

I guess they don't have mental health problems in Japan or the UK.

Something motivates people to commit these types of crimes, if it’s not their mental state then what is it? I think the distinction is that it’s not just mental health, it’s the availablity of weapons as well.

Maybe it has something to do with all the pills this country has been swallowing for two or three decades. Jesus, even psoriasis medication commercials say “may cause suicidal thoughts.” I understand that a certain (small) number of people really need psychoactive meds to balance themselves but most people who take them probably don’t.
