If they are peeled, aren't they just mashed potatoes
No, you add milk or sour cream to make mashed potatoes.
The correct combination is sour cream and butter

Well yeah, but smashed taters also use butter. Actually, I think it’d be oil.

Had some pretty good sweet potato fries at this new restaurant opening up in my community. They had marshmallow dipping sauce for $2 extra, which was OK but I'm gonna pass on it next time. Love the fries by themselves or with a little bit of catchup.

For you maybe. We’d call McDonald’s fries, skinny fries.
Different thing here. We got chips. Which are a lot thicker but straight cut. Wedges are a different buzz. Not usually from the same spud used for chips either.
Think it’s Maris piper used in chipper chips. Roosters for wedges.

I know this actually makes sense but divorced from context it sounds like such wonderful gibberish

For the blow ins. There’ll be one or two.
Maris piper and rooster are varieties of potato.
Fries are called Chips here.
A Chipper/chippie is byword for fish n chip shop.
(Chip buttie is loads of chips on buttery bread squished up)
Crisps is what you guys call chips
How come fish n chips isn’t a thing in the states? Fried Smoked cod in batter and greasy chips tons of salt n vinegar, is food heaven.

Dammit. We just ordered kfc now I want chipper

What do y'all think are the best frozen fries?

None are as good as a restaurant, but if you must get frozen fries, these are the ones we get:

Dime, fish and chips is a thing in the states. Most bars/pubs serve them, as well as many restaurants in coastal cities
