Can’t be. His memory has been wiped at the end of the prequels.
Could be interesting but JJ seemed really uninterested in 3PO and Rian outright hated him if you view it through the lines Poes given. Dismissed him and cuts him off constantly.
Maybe though.

Its strange. No Star Wars cast member has done more work in a thousand different forms, for Star Wars, than Anthony Daniels. He records 3PO voices for endless countless everything from toys to ads to merch. And has done since 77.
Yet no cast member has done more to make his character so hated toxic and loathed than Anthony Daniels. Not cos of all the aforementioned.
He always was, still is and always will be a complete cunt. To cast members and fans alike.
People hate 3po based on the actors real life bullshit.
JJ and Disney marketing etc have really misread the temperature of the room if 3PO is anything other than a cameo in this.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker
3PO is more of a character and more iconic than pretty much anyone from the prequels and more than some of the new ones. Couldn't care less about the actor or his behavior. Get a different actor. 3PO deserves a special send off with the rest of the characters in this whole fan service/money grab affair.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker
That shot of Luke is the "recent Luke" we meet at the end of TFA and during TLJ. Doesn't look like a flashback (fewer of those is best, I think).
The Rise of Skywalker could simply be Luke rising w/ the force to be ... alive and well again - we know Hamill wasn't in love with how they ended TLJ; but I do understand he walked those comments back.
Something to speculate on for sure.

For all the haters out there, he also credits Rian with giving him the strength to do something bold.Strat wrote:“Working on nine, I found myself approaching it slightly differently,” he says. “Which is to say that, on seven, I felt beholden to Star Wars in a way that was interesting—I was doing what to the best of my ability I felt Star Wars should be.” But this time something changed. Abrams found himself making different choices—for the camera angles, the lighting, the story. “It felt slightly more renegade; it felt slightly more like, you know, Fuck it, I’m going to do the thing that feels right because it does, not because it adheres to something.”dimejinky99 wrote:Strat wrote:That was the one great nugget in there. otherwise a majority of the article was rehashing the history of star wars and talking about internet rumours.
God, im gonna miss the hype of star wars.

He was always awful to kenny baker on set. Then took to ignoring him completely. Baker spoke about it often.wease wrote:What’s this about Daniels being an asshole? I’ve never heard anything about this.
And then would refuse to get in photos with him at conventions etc.
If fans approached with merch or photos the cast had previously signed, he would look for bakers signature and sign over it.
There’s endless stories of this shit
He’s a complete bastard.

The weird thing is Baker kept going on and on about it, and Daniels has hardly ever said anything.

Yeah I noticed that too. From that article, kinda seems like he could just be antisocial and Baker is the dick. But I’m not versed in this feud.Anders wrote:The weird thing is Baker kept going on and on about it, and Daniels has hardly ever said anything.
