Okay, so I've been listening to the soundcheck song lately and I could swear at multiple points, from what you can make out of Ed's vocals, it sounds like he's saying "low" or something like that. Now I think he might be saying "Swallowed Whole"

You can hear it twice in the song, the first at 36 seconds and then later in what seems to be the chorus after the solo at around 3:25, it sounds like he might be screaming "Swallowed Whooooole"

Of course I could be completely wrong but it just might be.

For some reason, from the artwork and song titles alone, I'm getting a feeling that this album has a running theme of the apocalypse. For example:

Yellow Moon: A warning of what's to come.

Sirens: Time to panic. It's here. Run for your lives.

Lightning Bolt and Swallowed Whole: The apocalypse in all it's glory. If you don't get struck by lightning, the ground will open up and you'll be swallowed whole.

Death coming from the sky:
And soon you’re thrown down on your knees, and then you’re dead
Then before you know, The weeds are obesely overgrown

Set free = death:
Until the lightning strike SETS!! you free! YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH!!

God:
And with no repair in sight there is
No God with such might
As you open her world.. wide with such a view.
And Your efforts to arrive
As she finally decides
That all her problems, they will die with you
She’s a lightning bolt

Mind Your Manners: Where's God now?
I caught myself believin'
That I needed God
And if it's hard for some
We sure could use it now

Death:
Go to Heaven
That's swell
How do you like it
Livin' Hell

Infallible: Those that survive and remain are only the strongest, toughest, the immune.

Future Days: Redemption. We survived, so now we're looking to the future.

God (again):
Back when I was feeling broken
I focused on a prayer, you came deep from the ocean

The apocalyspe:
The hurricanes and cyclones rage
The winds (?) into dust
The floods they came and the tides they raised, ever closer became us

Looking back, the warnings were true:
All the promises at sundown, I met them like the rest
Demons dancing used to come round before now they've left

Believe to survive:
I believe and I believe ‘cause I can see
Our future days, days of you and me

Harmless, this is totally the album we were looking for. We just need a zombie related song and we're set. :D

Swallowed Whole in negatives, it's so sad and sickening.

Another thought: we might have four 'suits' like in the Tarot (or just a deck of cards). Hearts, Moons, Lightning Bolts... (?). Just speculation.

so it looks like the hearts are not a recurring symbol everywhere. Not knowing most of the songs I wonder if there is a personal/political split to the songs

You guys may be right. There could be a half/half or quarter theme to the album, like a bipolar/have a split personality concept.

That would make perfect sense, given 1) PJ do this all the time (have a 'schizophrenic' approach to styles), and 2) there were two recording sessions, I'm guessing because they weren't entirely happy with the direction the first one was taking. So there might be a real light and dark feel. If that's the case, I'm just glad that at the moment it feels very deliberate.

I'm pretty sure Swallowed Whole is about Linda Lovelace.

And Yellow Moon is a logical extension of Lucky Charms.
