Wait - you walked out? Why? The movie was incredible
it probably wasn't walk out bad, but i was pretty bored by what i assume was the final battle.

It didn't know what it wanted to be. At first it seemed to be about what being a superhero would be like in real life, which I thought was awesome. the first stabbing scene was great. Then it just scrapped that idea and became a ridiculous superhero movie with kids.

Actually - that is a fair call. I liked it for what it was though. It's about the only movie with Nick Cage in it that I'll happily watch again.

Kick-Ass 2 comes out in August, so right about now would be the time when you’d start seeing the stars appearing on talk shows and promoting the shit out of it. Unless they’re Jim Carrey who decided yesterday to bash a movie he got paid millions of dollars to star in and knew the exact content of for being too violent:

- I did Kickass a month b4 Sandy Hook and now in all good conscience I cannot support that level of violence. My apologies to e
- I meant to say my apologies to others involve with the film. I am not ashamed of it but recent events have caused a change in my heart.

Keep in mind, Sandy Hook happened over six months ago and Jim Carrey has known all along what content the movie has because every single gunshot was in the script, according to Kick-Ass creator Mark Millar who penned a lengthy response pointing out how fucking random this is all was considering the following:

1. Jim Carrey loved the first movie so much he dressed up like Kick-Ass, completely on his own, while making a surprise appearance on Conan O’Brien’s comedy tour.

2. The most memorable character in Kick-Ass was a little girl armed to the fucking teeth.

3. Nothing in the final cut of the movie wasn’t in the screenplay 18 months ago. The screenplay Jim Carrey read.

what a dick
This is more promotion than having him saying " this movie is great".
True, but still

He's allowed to grow a conscious and evolve his beliefs. If he doesn't want to promote it and distance himself from it, let him be.

I don't keep up with him as a person so its possible he already has, but if he feels that strongly now then he should give all the money he was paid to do the movie, and any more he may get from it down the road to the families of the sandy hook victims or a charity/cause of their choosing. If he is going to grow a conscious but at the same time profit greatly from the stuff he says he doesn't agree with then he is just a dick

That's a fair point, but it likely won't happen. In late March, he put out a Funny Or Die parody of Charlton Heston in favor of gun control.

Chloe Moretz Called BS On Jim Carrey’s Refusal To Promote ‘Kick-Ass 2′
Image
Written by Ashley Burns / 08.09.13

As the cast of the upcoming Kick-Ass 2 continues to make its rounds to promote the film’s opening next Friday, August 16, one of the sequel’s stars is still noticeably absent – Jim Carrey, who plays Colonel Stars and Stripes. Carrey, of course, decided that he didn’t want anything to do with the super-violent film’s promotional duties once he’d actually finished filming it and accepting money for his work, because he felt that it was insensitive to the victims of the Sandy Hook shootings, among other recent events.

Naturally, that seemed a bit strange to some, while it was certainly commendable that the guy was standing up for his anti-gun beliefs. But to others the point was kind of clouded by the fact that he knew exactly what he was getting involved with. That led to director Mark Millar and some of the film’s actors recently making fun of Carrey, and Chloe Moretz also piled on in a recent interview with The Sun.

“It’s a movie. If you are going to believe and be affected by an action film, you shouldn’t go to see ‘Pocahontas’ because you are going to think you are a Disney princess,” the 16-year-old Moretz told the U.K.’s Sun.

“If you are that easily swayed, you might see ‘The Silence of the Lambs’ and think you are a serial killer. It’s a movie and it’s fake, and I’ve known that since I was a kid … I don’t want to run around trying to kill people and cuss. If anything, these movies teach you what not to do.” (Via The Wrap)

Allegedly Mark Millar isn't the brightest bulb in the box either.

Just got in from this. Way more violent and darker than the first. Still had the fun bits in it too. Can't see why it didn't do as good as the first one. either way, thumbs up.

I think this is what I thought of the first one, if I remember rightly.

I saw this two the other night. It was a fun movie, way more violent. I think I actually liked it more.
