What movies are you watching?

There are only a handful of movies that actually make me angry, that send me into a wild, unrelenting rage. Gosford Park is one of those movies.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Yes. It's flat and stiff and forgettable photography. It's nonsensical in plot/story/action. The pace is WAY off. The acting is okay, I guess, but there's nothing that stands out and captures me. The production design is fine but it's boring and obvious and everything you'd expect. Altman is up his own ass here. It's the most "I'm Robert Altman and I'm gonna make a Robert Altman film and you're gonna love it because Robert Atlman" film he's made (that I've seen -- and I LIKE Altman).

It's just so lifeless and boring and I couldn't wait for it to be over as I was watching it.

To be fair, I haven't seen it since opening weekend and my tastes have obviously evolved and shifted since then. Maybe I should give it another shot. But honestly even the thought of watching it gives me anxiety and a headache.
