Purple is better. So is Shangri-La. But Tiny Music is great too.bune wrote:I'm pretty sure Tiny Music came out in the 90s.PHATJ wrote:It was probably my favorite non PJ album of the 90s.lennytheweedwhacker wrote:purple was easily my favorite album in the mid 90's

Jesus...I'll admit Purple is close but Shangri-La?
Depends on what I want to hear as to whether Purple or Tiny Music win out.

Shangri-La is definitely in my top 2 STP. I sometimes think it might be my favorite.bune wrote:Jesus...I'll admit Purple is close but Shangri-La?

Re: The Stone Temple Pilots Thread
Did anyone read the write up Sterogum came up with when Tiny Music turned 20? I really appreciate the idea that making a “cred album” is almost entirely rooted in the self-serious 90s. Good read.

I cannot take your list seriously, but only because Big Empty isn't on it (WTF?!), Wicked a garden IS on it, and that dumb Suit song you put as honorable mention.

Lol. Big Empty would probably be there if I made the list again today. Creep and Crackerman aren’t close to my top 20.Iholdthepain wrote:I cannot take your list seriously, but only because Big Empty isn't on it (WTF?!), Wicked a garden IS on it, and that dumb Suit song you put as honorable mention.

Crackerman was my first favorite STP song. It fucking rocks, and so does D&B, which was my backup for Crackerman in the tourney. WG has just grown tiresome for some reason. Creep is just a very well-crafted piece of songwriting, so I couldn't pass that one up when it was up for grabs.

I feel the same way about Crackerman as you do about WG, and I haven’t loved Creep since I was 15. It’s in the same category as Radiohead’s Creep; Iconic songs that haven’t done anything for me since I became an adult.Iholdthepain wrote:Really???PHATJ wrote:Lol. Seems like many here have 'outgrown' Core, and I guess I haven't yet. Those songs mostly held up quite well when I spun the album a few days ago.PHATJ wrote:I feel the same way about Crackerman as you do about WG, and I haven’t loved Creep since I was 15. Re: The Stone Temple Pilots Thread
I don’t dislike Core. Plush is still one of my favorites. There are a couple others I really enjoy. I just think the STP of Purple/Shangri-La/Tiny Music is much more interesting and overall much more creative and just ... better.Iholdthepain wrote:Seems like many here have 'outgrown' Core, and I guess I haven't yet. I haven't had any desire to listen to Core in more than 20 years. All the other Weiland STP albums have been in a fairly regular rotation since then.
