Re: HBO: The Newsroom
Is there a satisfying payoff? My sister used to watch it and from what she told me it sounded like there was a lot of stalling while they figured out what they were doing.

I mean, at least the final episode was better than the penultimate.

Re: HBO: The Newsroom
it was a beautifully told story from start to finish, complete with the development of themes, consistent characterization, and a three-act structure

I liked the whole journalism/ Snowden-ish thing. It was impressive how it was turned into a damn the man thing rather than the current administration is way harsher on leaks than the previous ones, but I digress. Other than that, I'm not sure than Mr. Sorkin and I see eye to eye on much. We should celebrate our common values, though, right?

So I recently decided to rewatch this as a low investment thing to have on before bed. And im three episodes in and... it's aged way better than I would have anticipated. At least as it relates to quasi predictions about where we were headed in media and as a country. A lot of foresight on the Tea Party basically destroying the traditional republican party through made up facts.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Oh man the Sorkinism level is off the fucking charts. Although im finding myself way more into Mackenzie than I ever was.

Re: HBO: The Newsroom
i watched the first season, and somewhat enjoyed it, despite the flaws that trag pointed out. but those flaws became too unbearable, and we bailed by the first 1-2 episodes of the second season.
