You don't have to watch the short film but it would enhance your understanding of the themes of the album and would make it more accessible and enjoyable! GOD CHRIST

tree, I made a quick little Bruce mix for you to try. It's a digestible length at just 10 songs, and I think it gives a varied, bittersweet mix of Bruce flavors that will hopefully give a different perspective on him than the image you have formed based on cursory exposure. I hope you give it a shot.

Keep in mind I’m going for an alternate angle on Bruce given what tree said, so I’m avoiding big, hooky songs for the most part.

1. Lift Me Up
2. Western Stars
3. Something in the Night
4. I’m on Fire
5. Backstreets
6. Magic
7. Bobby Jean
8. Youngstown
9. All I’m Thinkin’ About
10. Hello Sunshine

Bobby Jean is all big and hooky but not a bad set for a fool's errand.

Yeah but it’s melancholy and doesn’t have a chorus

I would have included Lost in the Flood, which was one of the first songs that hooked me, particularly the live version from Hammerstein Ballroom...and Kitty’s Back from that show as well. That made me a lifelong fan.

Well to your credit, I need the expanse of at least 30 songs to make my Springsteen case. I could never knock it down to 10 or even close.

Here’s my methodical approach one album at a time for Springsteen conversions. This is gonna take some time as I listen again:

Greetings From Asbury Park - my overall rating B+

Songs to convert tree_: Spirit in the Night, Growin’ Up, It’s Hard to Be a Saint in the City

Also good listening: Blinded By the Light, Lost in the Flood, For You

The Wild, the Innocent, and the E Street Shuffle - my overall rating A (essential album that evokes that very last August of freedom before responsibilities and life truly begin)

Songs to convert tree_: Kitty’s Back (such a great song), Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)

Also good listening: The E Street Shuffle, 4th of July Asbury Park (Sandy), Incident on 57th Street, New York City Serenade
