It's all new for you. You probably have Ocarina memorized like the back of your head.
I only played Ocarina once before. The open world always seemed so bare, even back in the 90s.
How many times have you seen the back of your head?
13 times.
I see. It's definitely many more times than you've played Ocarina... but it's somewhat equivalent because I doubt you have the back of your head memorized better.

I can’t beat that temple guard in the shrine In Kakariko Village.

This game is so extremely frustrating on both extremes.
No clue what to do next. Doesn’t let you do the thing in front of you.

Such a pain

The whole point of the game is being a true open world. If you're struggling, try going somewhere new. Experiment. Get weird.

It really helps.

I’m used to the format. You couldn’t progress to this until you did that.

I can’t pass a shrine without trying.

I know the more I play it’ll change and open up but right now I don’t even have a weapon.
But I have learned to use the bombs cleverly
I guess it’s working on some level

There are weapons all around you. Pick up a tree branch.

That damn photo button and start screen legalise menu buttons are in the wrong place!!

I don’t have enough time to play this and adapt.

Can they be changed?

No you can't change the control configuration. I was frustrated by the jump button being so far away from sprint. It is dumb. Just quit.

Really? Can you move the jump button next to the sprint button?

Enjoying this at last. Found an approach that suits what I’m used to and helps me stop getting my ass kicked.

Go find enough koroks to boost my inventory.

I need 45 and I have 25.

It’s helping enjoy it a lot more too.

Just wait until you start searching for all of the shrines. That was my favorite part

Not using a guide to do this is one of the best things I ever did.

I won’t lie I had to. Jesus Hyrule bridge was a real bitch to complete.
Now stuck with the three stones on chains that you have to magnetise and real stuck
It’s always the simple stuff that’s so deceptive

I beat Cadence of Hyrule today. 100% - all items and hearts. I clocked in at 9 hours. I turned beat mode off. Rhythm games aren't my thing apparently. As side-story Zelda's go, it was definitely better than Hyrule Warriors and Crossbow Challenge. It was on par with Four Swords. I haven't played Triforce Heroes yet. If you love Zelda, it's a must play at $25 for 10ish hours. Otherwise, wait for the price to drop.

Does anyone know what all the screws and cogs and gears you can collect are for?
Leads to something or just handy to sell?

ps I’m repeatedly having my ass locked by stone talus. Any advice appreciated

Armor upgrades.

Run behind. Climb up. Attack black stone weak spot. If black stone is kinda on It's butt, avoid for now since bomb arrows are needed.

Ancient gear, screws, shafts, cores, ets are also used to buy ancient weapons from one of the research labs. Later in the game you'll appreciate having an ancient bow, ancient shield, and some ancient arrows on hand.

Ok I’m in now. Got the hang of it. Soon as I dropped the linear mindset it all came together.
Got my slate upgraded and a whole new heap of stuff to do. I really wanna knuckle down on shrines for stamina though. Having loads of fun. Made about 5000 rupees making meals and selling them. That was cool learning how to cook and sell the meals and all that.
