Re: Broadway Joey
Imma see Oklahoma! tonight.
Pretty excited about it. Which is not a feeling I ever expected to have let alone admit to.

Re: Broadway Joey
This new revival is "a game changer" and a reinvention, apparently. I've heard nothing but raves about this production.
I hate the show but I love Damon Duanno (
) who stars and I'm always up for a new take.

Re: Broadway Joey
I mean, Cats is a stupid, insipid, and boring musical. Based solely on the one trailer I saw, the movie looks like it's over-compensating for the play's inherent flaws with visual style that will likely also, ultimately, lack real substance. But I do love the cast. And I'm super excited to hear Jennifer Hudson sing Memory like her life depends on it. That'll probably be pretty great.
It doesn't look like my cup of tea but I'll give a chance. And I respect the hell out of the artists involved for trying something. Trying doesn't equal succeeding but I'll wait until I see it before I rip it apart (or hyperbolic-ly go down on it) like the internet is want to do.
Idris Elba for president of everything!

Re: Broadway Joey
i appreciate your take on the trailer, joey. was curious what someone in the industry thought of it. from my perspective** — someone that has only seen the trailer once, and has seen probably only a 3-4 broadway plays — this looked so hilariously bad that at first i thought it was a joke... until i thought about how much they spent of the cast, sets, animation, and music... then i was like, "oh shit, they've got quite the budget to cover in the box office".

yeah, it's a weird trailer and I totally understand why people didn't like it.bodysnatcher wrote:i appreciate your take on the trailer, joey. was curious what someone in the industry thought of it. from my perspective** — someone that has only seen the trailer once, and has seen probably only a 3-4 broadway plays — this looked so hilariously bad that at first i thought it was a joke... until i thought about how much they spent of the cast, sets, animation, and music... then i was like, "oh shit, they've got quite the budget to cover in the box office".
