Re: The Running Thread
I don't think so. But maybe. I've had these shoes for a while. And before these I had another pair that was the same make & model. I haven't had any issues until Saturday evening. During my run on Sat I felt fine. Then Sat night I stood up from the couch and it felt like I had a giant bruise on the top of my foot, like I'd dropped something heavy on it.
Went for a run on Sun and felt totally fine during the run. But again, later that afternoon, well after the run, the discomfort returned. I took Monday off entirely. At different points throughout the day the top of my foot would just hurt. Other times it's fine.
It didn't bother me at all during my ride today. But about 10 minutes ago it started aching again. And all I'm doing is sitting at work. None of the shoes I've worn in the past month are new. All of them are shoes I've worn for a while now.

Re: The Running Thread
My wife is worried it might be a stress fracture. And I suppose that's possible. But wouldn't that hurt while running? I feel like it hurts less the more I'm moving, oddly.

Re: The Running Thread
I've never had a stress fracture but I wouldn't think that would feel better when running. Sounds like soft tissue. See a podiatrist if it keeps up, my fiance had a top of foot problem that lingered for a while and a cortisone shot made it go away.

Yeah thanks for the heads up, had we known that not feeling pain was dumb we would have behaved differently.verb_to_trust wrote:Sounds goodMickey wrote:Oh well in that case we'll go back and reverse that decision.verb_to_trust wrote:A cortisone shot is a dumb idea

You do understand that a cortisone shot doesn't address the underlying biomechanical problem, right?Mickey wrote:Yeah thanks for the heads up, had we known that not feeling pain was dumb we would have behaved differently.verb_to_trust wrote:Sounds goodMickey wrote:Oh well in that case we'll go back and reverse that decision.verb_to_trust wrote:A cortisone shot is a dumb idea

No man I'm out here moving through the world with just zero fucking idea how the human body works. I assume all pain is caused by evil energy which must be expelled from the body. Every shot I get from the doctor is a near-religious experience.verb_to_trust wrote:You do understand that a cortisone shot doesn't address the underlying biomechanical problem, right?Mickey wrote:Yeah thanks for the heads up, had we known that not feeling pain was dumb we would have behaved differently.verb_to_trust wrote:Sounds goodMickey wrote:Oh well in that case we'll go back and reverse that decision.verb_to_trust wrote:A cortisone shot is a dumb idea

Re: The Running Thread
Cortisone shots are NEVER a good idea for runners.
Always deal with the underlying issue before resorting to pain killing.

It's weird because I definitely don't remember recommending a cortisone shot in this particular case but the two most normal posters here are saying that I have so I must have.run2death wrote:Cortisone shots are NEVER a good idea for runners.

As I've said many times, I seriously think you need professional psychological help.verb_to_trust wrote:I would suggest your fiance lose some weightMickey wrote:No man I'm out here moving through the world with just zero fucking idea how the human body works.
