Re: Star Trek: Picard
I don't have a link that sums it all up neatly. It's a lot of drips. I'll try to be as brief as possible. Basically all the Star Trek since Enterprise has been under a different license agreement with Bad Robot. They are non canon. They have to be. In order to market and get paid for the merch from their shows and movies ship designs/uniforms/creatures have to be (supposedly) a certain percentage different than the originals. 20-30% has been thrown around. Hence the ships are larger and the Klingons are redesigned. Problem is Star Trek fans...specifically the ones that buy shit don't like the changes. They aren't buying toys and what have you that are based on the Bad Robot produced stuff. The toy companies don't want to make products based on Bad Robot designs. They don't sell. They refused for Picard. Netflix also refused to pay for Picard. Bad Robot knows toys is where they make their money and pushed back. It's all about the merch. Bad Robot and CBS are at odds over it. Supposedly Kuzman (the Bad Robot guy) has been sidelined and all sorts of script and design changes are happening to make merch producers happy. A new showrunner has been added. Costs are through the roof cause they are re-doing everything. I guess early test screening for Picard have gone bad too.

Re: Star Trek: Picard
It is. The way the rights were split is mind boggling. I could never explain it it's so complicated. All their issues are basically self inflicted. The old CBS head Les Mooves didn't care for Star Trek and really fucked it up. Kind of like how Fox had a guy who hated superhero movies in charge of making superhero movies. Hollywood am I right?

A few pages I’m on people are raving saying the new showrunner is gonna be amazing and happy to see Kurtzman take a more backseat Lucas type role and he’s developing (I wanna say 12?) new Star Trek series that will all be in the same canon or timeline?

I'm not crazy about Kurtzman in general, so I'm totally fine with him stepping back or taking a smaller creative roll in all of this. Who is the new showrunner?

Re: Star Trek: Picard
My memory is foggy but I heard they already filmed a lot of it? And the reaction was not good so they are trying to fix it without kurtzman. All rumors of course.

Yes. But he was already a showrunner, I thought. No? He's been with the project from the beginning.wease wrote:The novelist?dimejinky99 wrote:durdencommatyler wrote:I'm not crazy about Kurtzman in general, so I'm totally fine with him stepping back or taking a smaller creative roll in all of this. Re: Star Trek: Picard
Someone asked Shatner if he was jealous. He replied that he was not, and that he looked forward to seeing the show.

Re: Star Trek: Picard
Shatner is perpetually jealous. He said he can't watch stuff he was in from when he was young because he used to be so good looking it hurts him now. I love that guy.
