Someone's going to have to dig up all the posts about producers between S/T and Backspacer. BoB's fall from grace in the PJ message board universe has been unbelievable.

have folks given up chase on the theory that these arts are going to spell out Pearl Jam?

They're not at all bad, but the first four images had a place or two with more detail. The "Getaway" one particularly was very big block shapes without much finer work. It's no big deal. Maybe the final reveal of this one will have some details that are revealing. The change from the two big faces on FD to the figures was really something.

Crash course on TSIS lameology:

Zombie pyramids I'm lost here.
The Fixer video Didn't love it, but I didn't hate it. I don't put much stock in videos anyway.
BoB (being blamed for the songs that PJ now writes) They've always had such a mixed bag of songs--I don't think they're much softer or sappier now than they were back in the day, but maybe that's just me.
Ed taking over control Ancient news.
Stone conceding all control See above.
Boom's sausage fingers Again, I just ride with the Boom thing. He's friends with the band and they asked him to play with them. I think that's kinda beautiful.
Binaural's official tracklisting Again, band decision. I take them for what they are. They obviously left off some great songs, but I'm sure they had their reasons. Incidentally, I love Evacuation and God's Dice, which I know are not the most popular tunes among the fanbase.

That's just the tip of the iceberg

Which lends more credence to the 'Dos Equis' theory. PearlJamXX.

OK, now I have some context for the perceived drop in quality. Fair point.

Perceived is correct. I like all of the images so far.

The newbie here is to blame for a page or two of that.

That's true; he was seen as PJ's savior back when Kasper was at the boards for S/T.

For your notes: if none of the images are intended to work with each other (montage, layers, overlapping, etc.) this will all be a massive disappointment . I've have unintentionally and probably unfairly raised my expectations.

The first 4 images were all excellent in execution and... believe it or not, not a single bad song title in the bunch! (I'm looking at you Johnny Guitar!)

Getaway just seems a bit lazy. The idea behind it could've been cool but it's just a bit too stick figure/cartoonish for my liking.

Let the Records Play is too much of a STBC retread/topic already visited. However, Let the Records Show (as harmless suggested) would've been badass. Furthermore, if LTRP ends up being another song about loving music (i.e. Supersonic) then harmless might go postal. I wouldn't want to see that.

Not sure yet with Infallibottle? The 4th image will make or break this, but it's definitely looking much better than what we got yesterday.

The images absolutely do all of that, for sure. Whether they go any way towards describing the actual songs is another matter. Part of me is still thinking that the songs were such an incoherent mess that the artist worked extra hard to tie them together in some way.
