Fuck Yes. Van Halen was probably the first band I was really into. I was in Jr. High. The riffs still hold up and there is something about Dave that is universal. Even music elitists don't slag DLR VH.

Love the middle DLR albums.

Women and Children First, Fair Warning and Diver Down are all great.

I do love David Lee Roth era Van Halen. All of the albums are excellent.

That first album is A+. Also, 1984 was the first album I ever owned.

Diver Down for me was the weakest Roth album for sure and a few Van Hagar albums top it too.

Definitely the most overrated band in history, but I like a few of their hits. Panama is amazing.

You should dig a little deeper. Even the Van Hagar stuff is sprinkled with gems like Poundcake

The deeper I dig, the more shitty they sound.

Calling them "overrated" doesn't seem right.

They've always been one of the "bridge" bands between classic rock and hair metal.

I'd argue they are more "underrated."

Their rhythm section is great.

That's nonsense. The breakdown/outro on House of Pain for example has the kind of swing and swagger other guitar bands of the 80s could never dream of touching.

The claymation scene in Better Off Dead set to Everybody Wants Some!! is probably the defining moment of my childhood.

Dirty Movies and Push Comes to Shove really push Fair Warning to another level and is the popular favorite amongst fans but Women and Children has some stellar tunes. Romeo Delight bangs and leading off with a single like And the Cradle.. quickly steadies the whole album.

I know it’s sacrilege, but as big a VH fan as I am, DLR and Sammy, I really can’t stand Runnin’ With the Devil.
