The rhythm in my head (the only one that works) is a 16th-note skiffle beat with brushes. I don't know how to describe it but I guess it might be a bluegrass rhythm? The last time he used brushes was for Riot Act though. He should've used brushes for SOS and didn't.
Yeah, perhaps something like this:

This is super-disappointing. I'd rather than they just put the amazing solo version on the album rather than give it the full band treatment. Why re-use a song?
Maybe it was a PJ song before it went on Uke songs. I'm sure he writes PJ songs on the Uke sometimes.

It's going to have to be sticks and pumped. This may be betterman 2 in terms of pop music by pearl jam.

Its already been discussed a ton, but whose to say it wasn't started as a full band song but then used by ed when we was trying figure out what to use for uke songs

You know, I really think only one arm should be going up and down like that.

Yeah, something like that would be nice; I'd hope a little more technical but that's basically what I'm thinking.

That's another idea, sure. I could be something like 'Down' with electric guitars and sticks, albeit slightly faster.

I know most folks around here sport major wood for the RA version of Can't Keep, but I never thought it was THAT much better to re-use it on an album and leave off Down or Undone. Same could be said for Soon Forget (even though it was "new" at the time).

Hence my skepticism for SBM.

Yep, no Of The Earth. Tomorrow will be Lightning Bolt and Infallible. Kind of sucks, but have to say I rather enjoyed the track reveal process.

Kind of puzzled by the inclusion of Sleeping By Myself. Can't Keep was great (both versions), I just hope they make Sleeping By Myself a bit longer or something, only clocks in at 1:53 now, I suppose with a full band it will most certainly be expanded a bit...

Hopefully they'll lengthen the track, with the obligatory solo/jam, then an awesome bridge/coda, and a reprise of the chorus. It'll be this album's 8 minute epic.

Nah that's too close to the uke version. This will be radically different. I hear 4/4 beat (like The Strokes Last Nite) with a half time outro breakdown (like Down's outro or the SSonic bridge)

As I've said before, this version of SBM better be fucking great to take up the precious real estate of a studio album we waited 4 years to hear.

I'm still clinging onto the small hope that we'll get a studio OTE as a bonus track.

Anything's possible. But I'm not assuming that we'll get the cool rock band version, because that should've been what SOS was... I'm remaining sceptical even though I love what they *could* do with the song.

Mostly I just think its a dull song that will most likely be made worse by a full band.
