Jim Parsons is a good actor. He's not world-shattering by any means. He's not Meryl Streep. But he's so much better than Big Bang Theory would lead one to believe. And he's not bad on that show either., really. But I've seen the man act on stage and in other films/projects and he's solid. I think he would have made an incredible Mr. Rogers.

He was on SNL and he was not a single note different, in any sketch, from who he is on the BBT and on various awards shows. What did you seem him in that changed your mind?

Garden State, Harvey (on Broadway), The Normal Heart (on Broadway), An Act of God (on Broadway).

I'm not saying he's a super versatile actor. I haven't seen him stretch very much. But I think he's solid to really good in everything I've seen him in. Consistent. Instinctive. Makes interesting choices. And I think the thing he does, would really work for Fred Rogers.
