Did you ever see season 2 of Top of the Lake? I feel like I didn't hear or see anything about it.

Old Records Never Die

High Fidelity meets Killing Yourself to Live when one man searches for his lost record collection.

I got a few episodes into The Fall but got too busy to finish it and I've never heard of the other. I should check the library and see if they have them on DVD.

Both are exquisite and complex and difficult to watch in the most rewarding way.

The Fall is one complete narrative stretched over 3 seasons. The whole thing has a definite satisfying (in my opinion) ending. I'll leave it at that.

As we were just discussing, I haven't seen S2 of Top of the Lake but I feel like the first season is so good and complete that I don't really need a second season. S1 is totally self-contained and wonderful on its own.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

So far my big thought on the book is that I really get this sentence, and I hope to read more and more like it:

I was about two chapters in to the Tweedy memoir I bought when this Kim memoir kind of fell in my lap. It's strange hearing such different voices jump from the pages, and I can't really do both at the same time. I think Kim is going to win out and Tweedy is going to have to wait for a bit.
