Hateful 8 took time to grow for me but once you realize it's basically just a play, it's fantastic. Tarantino is without a doubt the greatest director/writer of our generation. Nobody is as consistent as he is. PTA had a shot but he doesn't have 9 fucking movies that are all amazing. I hate ranking, PTA is great too, but he aint QT.

Hooray! I just bought and printed my ticket and am seeing this tonight. By myself. Raz is working and Mom is watching Ezzie over night. Night out by myself. Ultra rare and exciting.

Well that was pretty great. Classic, yet more mature, QT.

There are a few scenes I can't stop thinking about.

Django is the non-animated version of Wall-E to me.swan wrote:Pretty great experience seeing this in 35MM last night. Thought it was a fairly profound portrait of aging, and had a lot of good subtle comedy. Not making it to his early career heights, but so much better than Hateful & Django for me.
1. Pulp Fiction
2. Inglorious Basterds
3. Jackie Brown
4. Kill Bill 1
5. Reservoir Dogs
6. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
7. Kill Bill 2
8. Django Unchained
9. Hateful Eight
10. Death Proof
Also, this was DiCaprio's best work in quite some time. So impressed with him.
It's almost a perfect movie until the final act. And that final act basically makes it unwatchable.
The 3rd act of Inglorious was bad, but it didn't render the rest of the movie useless, just mediocre.

In terms of pacing and structure this one is most like Jackie Brown.

Re: Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood
I’d say this was a pretty good movie. It’s a slow simmer “day in the life” of the three soon-to-intersect plot lines. Then gets a crazy third act.
DiCaprio and Pitt are great in this.

I really need to make an effort to see this in the theater this week--really glad to hear this is better than Django and Hateful 8. DiCaprio was fantastic as was Waltz in Django, but the movie overall kind of sucked IMO.

Yeah, just watched Jackie Brown last night for the first time in a while. It's the most similar QT film to OUATIH. So great. Wanna see OUATIH again already. How long til Netflix release? I also read there may be an extended Django Netflix release.

Re: Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood
First time in a very long time that im exited about a QT film. I think since Kill Bill...its been a long long time since i love something from him, i hated Django, IG was alright but far from what i wanted and Hateful 8...man i barely paid attention to that release...saw it on my place, completed it after a while...
Hopefully QT made a good movie again with this one.
