Ed's uke version is 1:53. I think they'll stretch it out quite a bit, add a bridge and another verse.southp wrote:Sleeping by Myself is probably the short 'n sweet "throw-away" one on LB... similar to Soon ForgetNothingBetterMan wrote:Anyone else worried one of these tracks is going to be a complete "Hey Fahkah" throwaway? Don't get me wrong, I loved paying $1.29 to fully understand how exactly Ed reacts to botching a song, but I sincerely hope that shit stays off this album.

a man lies in his bed in a room with no door
he waits hoping for his father, or a bottle of lightning, or a bottle of jizz to enter
after spending half his life without a bottle of jizz, he still felt as blank
as the ceiling at which he's staring
he's alive, but doesn't have any canned jizz
so, is he?

The fact that they decided to include it on the album might have to do with the overall feel of the album. I can't think of another reason to add an already known song.EJ wrote:Ed's uke version is 1:53. I'd love to know how that song even gets brought up with the band in the first place. Makes me wonder if the bad had attempted it pre-Uke Songs.enimmi wrote:The fact that they decided to include it on the album might have to do with the overall feel of the album. I think the members of the band are fans of eddies song writing. Why wouldn't they be? aw huh. Also, Matt did bring up playing Setting Forth.....EJ wrote:I'd love to know how that song even gets brought up with the band in the first place. Re: Lightning Bolt -- guess the tracks!
I feel it's a wasted track when we haven't had much new in years. They did Setting Forth live, we've got a recording, we can move on. No need to hear a studio version of the whole band. So if it's a thematic thing, then it really better work or else it's a throw-away to me.enimmi wrote:The fact that they decided to include it on the album might have to do with the overall feel of the album. I can imagine the other guys in the band sitting around listening to Ed's solo work and thinking "Wow, this is what happens without any of my input."

Sleeping by myself...wow, they are really trying to have a hit, right? This sounds like the Just Breathe of this album.

No Ceiling is one of my favorite PJ-related song of the last 6 years... but it's perfect as-is. If the band tried it live, then that's cool, but I don't need another recorded version on an album. It makes it feel like they've hit a writers block.

I think it's meant as filler. I mean it's not even 2 minutes long.VinylGuy wrote:Sleeping by myself...wow, they are really trying to have a hit, right? This sounds like the Just Breathe of this album.

Re: Lightning Bolt -- guess the tracks!
Yeah, its really odd to me. I like the uke version. Either the creative well is dry with the band or they needed a Just Breathe on the album. I'll probably enjoy the song, but it is a bit disappointing considering the amount of music they've produced since 2006.VinylGuy wrote:Sleeping by myself...wow, they are really trying to have a hit, right? The uke version is 2 minutes. We have no idea how long this one is.southp wrote:I think it's meant as filler. I mean it's not even 2 minutes long.VinylGuy wrote:Sleeping by myself...wow, they are really trying to have a hit, right? This sounds like the Just Breathe of this album.

Even so... the song has a peak length or overall value if you know what I mean. It's not going to turn into an 8-minute jam. Even if it comes in at 4 minutes, there's not that much you can add to drastically change the tone or sentiment.EJ wrote:The uke version is 2 minutes.
