We're going to have to have a reckoning with how autocentric we design our cities, even if that autocentrism is fully electric.

Agreed. But I would propose that as a species we deal with carbon emissions first.

Oh sure, fossil fuels need to go before anything else.

I'm sure I'm late to the party here, but is recycling always a good idea? Lately I've come across some examples where the carbon footprint and the fiscal cost outweigh the benefits, not to mention the fact that landfills are not even close to being a scarcity.

I proudly but my recycling can out to the curb every morning, but it sounds like it's a much more nuanced system than that.

This episode was the impetus for this post: https://www.npr.org/2019/07/12/74128364 ... we-recycle

Sounds like you guys (like Australia) need to start dealing with our own waste management instead of shipping it off shore. Industry, jobs, etc.

I heartily endorse this take. We need to stop trying to concoct all these Rube Goldberg funding schemes and just go out and build the damn things that are proven to cut back on fossil fuel usage, especially when financial conditions are favorable to do so.

I need to either figure out how to juice oranges better than HEB's store brand or figure out what to do with a new 1/2 gallon plastic container every ten days. Any tips, RM?

This'll definitely get struck down by the courts on First Amendment grounds, and if it got to SCOTUS it might be a unanimous decision there, too.
