Re: The Running Thread
I have no idea how I got in 7 miles today. My body straight up betrayed me. I was keeping a good 8 and a half minute pace for three miles. Then I hit a goddamn wall. My legs just stopped. My guts roiled. Felt like I was gonna throw up. I dropped a full minute on mile 4 and never bounced back. Mile 7 was 10+.

It happens, man.
The key is to finish. Gutting out the shitty runs builds stamina and mental toughness.

Word. That's why I pushed through and kept going instead of walking home.run2death wrote:It happens, man.

I'd feel better about it if I was actually training for something, though.

Re: The Running Thread
Then you should be psyched I got a run in. I know I'm not the best runner on RM. That might be you, R2D. But I love running just like you do. And I think that's what's important.

KT's post about her boyfriend's death reminds me that everyone (but particularity runners) should get their hearts checked out when they reach 40.
The prime heart attack years for runners are 45 to 55.

Hit 500 for the summer today. Ran a half today. Ran down into St. Paul and back up home (400 feet of climbing) and finished just under 1:37. Miles are in the bank. 6 weeks until the marathon. We’ll see.

Looks like Kilian is destroying the field.

Perfect conditions out there today. My favorite time of year for running is right around the corner.

My first assignment in the Air Force was Colorado Springs. I was always amazed at that race.run2death wrote:Pikes Peak Marathon today.
