I wouldn't say their my favorites, but I don't mind them. They balance out the record a bit.

Also I’d like to take this opportunity to restate my belief that All Hands on the Bad One is their best album front to back.
I'm going to make this their next for me. Thanks.
That's what I went to after The Woods, which was my first.

Do you also like that record? Seems like swan and I have similar S-K tastes, so far. If you also dig it, then that's another big plus for that record for me based on how you've talked about Center.

Listening to this again, I have to say that Ruins is fucking KILLER. I definitely like it more than Love and probably more than Bad Dance. So Ruins is probably my #2. :bammer:

I've now listened to this at least 16 times in 3 days.

Here's my way too early, totally premature, subject to change tomorrow, track ranking (love you, Ruddo! ;) ):

The Dog/The Body
Ruins
Bad Dance
Love
The Future is Here
Reach Out
Hurry on Home
Broken
Can I Go On
The Center Won't Hold
Restless

To be clear, there isn't a single dud on this record. I like to love all of these songs.

So the only S-K album I own is One Beat on vinyl. I play it and like it a lot, but have never really sought out the rest of their catalog.

The Woods seems to be pretty divisive. What’s the story on that one? Sounds interesting.

This back and forth is far more divisive.

Seems divisive based on this Carrie quote about the album:

“I’d rather have people be divided on it and feel passionately that it’s our worst or best record than feel nothing.”

I like the album a lot and I trag's description is probably super accurate and reflects what a lot of other smart music types would say about it. I, however, have never found the record very "abrasive." It is loud and distorted and ambient, though. I would agree with that.

I'm glad Carrie is happy I think this is their worst album.

well duh.

But that's not the way people think. It's universally loved. There are a handful of idiots like me that think it's slightly less good than the general consensus, but who listens to idiots?

Be sure to tell us if you think it's loud, distorted or abrasive. Or one of those three. Or two of those three. Or all three.
