I'm from St. John's originally. When they came in 2005, it was insanity. I lived downtown and we were all just running into the guys everywhere. My roommate was chatting up Stone while he was walking his dog the Friday before the first show. We pulled our car over and had a quick word with Mike the day of the second show, just talking the night before and such. We saw Jeff and his girl out shopping and got a bit giddy about it. We could have talked to him, but it's just a chilled out vibe there. Everybody I know had a chat with one of them. Both nights were full of banter about our town...Stone even took the mic and was chatting about it. Nuts.

ANYWAY, I'll never forget being there, every friend I ever went to school with, every person I grew up with and listened to PJ with, my sister, everbody! We're all crammed into this 7000 or 8000 seat arena, and they started with Can't Keep. I'll never forget Ed changing the "it's been wonderful tonight" line to "it'll be wonderful tonight," and just fucking losing my composure. I know most of you weren't there, but those two shows, especially the first night, should be considered a lot more classic than I think they are.

Awesome! When I saw them in Hershey in '03, I was hoping and praying they would open with Can't Keep. Instead, what did we get? LBC

Btw, totally off-topic, but as an Ottawan I need to ask a Toronto question. I was in Seattle a few weeks ago on vacation and the Blue Jays were in town playing the Mariners. The whole city was overtaken by Blue Jays fans for 3 days. Everywhere I went, that's all I saw. It was crazy! Are they all from Vancouver? Y'know, since they don't have any other Canadian baseball team to support? Or are Toronto fans crazy about traveling to support their team? By the time we left Seattle, I couldn't figure out if I wanted to buy a Seattle Sounders jersey or a Toronto Blue Jays cap. It was great!

Not me. Education was less bumpy. OTE has some pretty dramatic breaks and changes along the way.

Apparently Seattle is the big "home away from home" Jays experience these days. Cheaper tickets, nicer park, better food, beer, wine, grass on the field, etc. My understanding is that people are doing this from coast to coast up here. I know a lot make the trip from BC, but it seems to have become a nation-wide movement at this point. I'm going to do it over the next couple of years.

I've only ever listened to those clips on YouTube a few times, but I'd be willing to bet the sticking point with that tune is tying that bridge/jam together. Maybe they're having issues fleshing that part out (or paring it back, as the case may be).
