Re: What podcasts are you listening to?
Paul F Tompkins did a new character (a grizzled sea captain, which is, of course, right up his alley), Lauren Lapkus was the women who wrote the America's Funniest Home Videos theme song (reprised from the podcast), and Ego Nwodim was a salesperson. Ego's character was a bit thin and she kind of got lost in the other characters, but they did pick her up a couple of times (not surprised she didn't fit in so well with 3 people who do a weekly podcast). Just 2 straight hours of laughs, highly reccomend if they come around!durdencommatyler wrote:I bet. Doug Loves Movies is going to be taped on the 14th of September. That's the same night as the HDTGM show. I have a pretty good feeling who the guests are going to be on each show, though I could always be wrong.

Re: What podcasts are you listening to?
Well there were no guests at the HDTGM show, which probably worked out better. Took my son and it was a grand ol' time.
We watched 3/4 of the movie before going; it was just so bad (plus the hard-coded Arabic subs were distracting) that it took two days and we still didn't get all the way through. He complained through the whole thing and as it got worse and complained about going to see the show. I am glad that he ended up having a great time considering how much he complained. I mean he's 14 so I understand the "ugh, what is dad dragging me to now!" attitude.
One thing that was brought up in the show: The movie is called 2:22, the last episode of HDTGM was 222, and the address of the building was 222 whatever st and it got a pretty hilarious reaction from everyone. There were two babies in the crowd and the shirt for the show is going to be "Baby Fight" but it felt forced, like the last thing they talked about made it as the t-shirt. There were some really good Second Opinion songs, though Paul selected seven people to do songs but I think we got closer to 10, maybe more, I lost count. He didn't, and said something to the effect of "some of you people are liars, I only picked seven singers!" but it was fun. There was one person who used their mic time to say that they saw them at the Wiltern show and wanted to talk to Paul about his minivan, and there was a five-minute convo about that. Probably going to be edited out, honestly.
I would have liked some shirts at the merch table, but as it was there were three pins, two posters, and June's book, but there were only two pins by the time we got there. Guess the Butt pin was popular? Anyway, I liked the designs on the posters but I didn't like that it was basically an 8.5x11 piece of paper for $20.
The only bad part of it was that I had a tension headache that went from my neck to my forehead and it was with my from pre-show to whenever I fell asleep. God that sucked.

The bulk of the conversation felt very tedious — Dax openly flirting with Silverman, Silverman falling back on her old schtick of using sexually graphic language in lieu of being funny — but then Dax opened up about being molested as a kid, and that was a jumping off point for a great final stretch. I continue to like Dax more and more.

Re: What podcasts are you listening to?
blinking white guy is on this one. they go over the meme a bit and his appearance on Good Morning America a little while ago in the beginning. Kind of interesting to listen to.
Side note: when they mention the Taco Bell stuff, this is what they're talking about.

Re: What podcasts are you listening to?

First season is following Phish. Haven't delved in yet but this sounds promising.
Just finished this about the college admissions scandal. Every episode could have been cut by 10%. Still very interesting and enlightening.
