Absolutely. Like Scrosese said, one of the best films of the 90's.VinylGuy wrote:Oh The Thin Red Line is a masterpiece.durdencommatyler wrote:I know we have a thread for this kind of thing but I'll rank the Malick films I've seen here:

And there's a steep drop-off after #3.

One of only a handful of films that I genuinely hate. Ben Chapman's storyline is impactful, though. And his performance is truly lovely.VinylGuy wrote:Oh The Thin Red Line is a masterpiece.durdencommatyler wrote:I know we have a thread for this kind of thing but I'll rank the Malick films I've seen here:

Norton's been trying to make this movie for like 20 years. I'm so glad he's finally done it. Looks great, though I am curious about the time change. Pretty sure the book is set in 1999.

Re: The Cinematic Motion Picture News Thread
Yeah, I didn't really care for the book either. The only reason I even picked it up was because I heard Norton was making a movie version. This was way back when. When the movie never materialized, I put the book down. I finally read it a couple of years ago and was way underwhelmed.tragabigzanda wrote:I was lukewarm on that book

Re: The Cinematic Motion Picture News Thread
It's a hit/miss book. I know a lot of people who swear by it and call it one of the best books they've ever read. When people love it they LOVE it. So, I'd say give it a spin.Strat wrote:So dont read it?durdencommatyler wrote:Yeah, I didn't really care for the book either.
