2000-08-12: Tampa, Florida
I just picked up this bootleg. Can someone explain to me what this means?
"The tape machine malfunctioned during the live recording of Last Exit. Even though the error was quickly fixed, the song was lost. The show has been cut so there is no break in the audio where Last Exit should have existed. A masterboard tape version of Last Exit has been included at the end of the CD."

Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

What's the difference between the tape that got no recording of Last Exit and the mastertape?

This sounds like a thread for WCT.
My simpleton understanding is that the official boots are usually mixed from multi-track recordings, but since that machine malfunctioned, they added in a direct recording (just one track, not professionally mixed) of that one song.
Remember how for the 2003 tour you'd get a download link for the show the day after if you pre-ordered the CD? Same lower-quality recording, I think.

The pro-recording took a shit so they stuck a cheap soundboard tape of Last Exit at the end of the disc.B wrote:I just picked up this bootleg. Can someone explain to me what this means?
The same thing appears to have happened in Paris too, but in that case they spliced a really crappy mono recording into the show proper without warning. I have never seen any mention of this anywhere, but perhaps they regretted that and took a slightly different approach for Tampa.
On 6/3/06 in East Rutherford it happened again, but they lost the whole first part of the show, so they just used the soundboard tape up until that point.

I was at that Jersery show but honestly don't think I ever listened to the official bootleg. Now, Ed's opener and first song with MMJ is a different story.dad wrote:Paris from the Binaural tour? also, had no idea about East Rutherford. guess i'll have to listen again.Wendy Carlos's Twin wrote:The pro-recording took a shit so they stuck a cheap soundboard tape of Last Exit at the end of the disc.B wrote:I just picked up this bootleg. I think someone pissed on the soundboard during the show, but I could be wrong. I was at the 6/3/06 show, the power went after the first three songs

6/3/06 was a venue power outage that ruined the recording.
Tampa 2000 was a tape machine malfunction.
I don't know what happened in Paris 2000, but it switches to a bad soundboard for several songs and then back to multi-track again. Something I have never seen addressed anywhere, if anyone even noticed. I only just noticed myself.

Mexico City 2011 multitrack was completely lost due to a malfunction.
