I've said it previously in this thread, but I will say it again. I really do not want Vader to appear in this series.

Maybe they might do something like Vader appearing, but not actually seeing Obi wan? Like some cameo episode where he gets word that Obi wan has been spotted, and he sends people out to hunt for him.

I love Vader as much as the next guy, but I think a meeting between the two on this show will dilute their final encounter.durdencommatyler wrote:You guys are both bananas.wease wrote:Me neither.Monkey_Driven wrote:I've said it previously in this thread, but I will say it again. If they want to bring him in and them not actually meet, that could be acceptable.

Yes. We have already heard and seen the story of Obi Wan and Vader. We don't need that again.

The big irony is that I'm not even a big Vader guy. I think he's super hokey. And I didn't really care or want him in Rogue One

To me it only enhances their final meeting.wease wrote:I love Vader as much as the next guy, but I think a meeting between the two on this show will dilute their final encounter.durdencommatyler wrote:You guys are both bananas.wease wrote:Me neither.Monkey_Driven wrote:I've said it previously in this thread, but I will say it again. This thing is set close enough to RotS to still give massive impact to their meeting a decade later in ANH. At this point, as far as we know, Obi-Wan thinks Anakin is dead. Obi-Wan finding out that the Sith Lord who has been terrorizing the galaxy and hunting down the Jedi is Anakin Skywalker -- or once WAS Anakin Skywalker is amazing in and of itself. But I think Obi-Wan would need to take some kind of action at finding out that information.
It makes too much sense in the context of what came before and who we know Obi-Wan to be. Not only that, it helps color in the context around so many OT lines, like Vader's: "Obi-Wan once thought as you did" and "Now I am the master." Not to mention Ben's "He's more machine now than man." Which doesn't need further context but giving it a new layer would be really fucking cool.
I'm not saying Vader NEEDS to be in this. He doesn't. At all. And if he is in it, I hope it's sparingly. He certainly shouldn't be the focus or "The Big Bad" or anything like that.
But not including the stuff I've mentioned above feels like a real missed opportunity to me. Especially if this is indeed a one-off mini series with no second season. If it becomes a recurring series, well, then that's a different thing.

Definitely. I was speaking more about having a meeting between the two or really even having Vader in it at all. Vader should definitely hover over the series as its a major part of who Obi Wan is and everything he became.durdencommatyler wrote:To me it only enhances their final meeting.wease wrote:I love Vader as much as the next guy, but I think a meeting between the two on this show will dilute their final encounter.durdencommatyler wrote:You guys are both bananas.wease wrote:Me neither.Monkey_Driven wrote:I've said it previously in this thread, but I will say it again. Yeah, I full on want to see him. I want him and Obi-Wan to interact. I don't think I want a big fight or anything. But they should definitely interact.

But, again, it's not a deal breaker. I don't need it. I'm just gonna be thrilled with whatever we get. It's going to be hard to stay rational and the least bit objective the first time through watching this series.

Re: Star Wars: Kenobi (TBD)
Vader was an unknown quantity within even the upper echelons of the empire and imperial fleet staff. Nobody knows he’s Anakin (except thrawn). He’s the emperors hand and answers to none. So there is no current events for obi wan to keep up with. It wasn’t on broadcast news.wease wrote:Because he saw his legs and arms get fucking burned off? He’s kept up with the current events of a person that’s sworn to hunt him down and kill him?dimejinky99 wrote:Just as there’s no indication Vader and kenobi haven’t met again between sith and hope.wease wrote:Question:
In the episode of Rebels where Maul meets his ultimate fate, is there any dialogue that says he and Obi-Wan haven’t met since TPM? Or Clone Wars it they met in that? (I can’t remember specifically if they did actually meet in Clone Wars)
He’s more machine no than man.
How does kenobi know that
And your comparison is incorrect. There actually IS dialogue to support Obi-Wan and Vader not meeting. I was asking if Maul and Obi-Wan have met between TPM or Clone Wars and that episode of Rebels.
Unless kenobi can sense him in the force, as far as kenobi knows, Anakin is dead. Which he can’t cos Vader would sense him back. See the hangar bay in anh
Right there is your door to Ahsoka turning up and telling Kenobi Anakin is Vader and she faced him (rebels) and he’s alive.
This doubles down on obi wan having to protect Luke.
This whole series could be Vader obsessed with hunting down obi wan. He knows he’s out there. He just doesn’t know where. Last place he’d look? Planet Anakin grew up on
