I dunno
Way back four years ago when all the new canon started they already had the emperor in mind. He had a plan just like order 66 in the event of his death. Operation Cinder. The imperial fleet were to go and destroy absolutely everything. They came close but failed the last battle was over Jakuu. Remember the star destroyer wreck in the sand in TFA?
He also ordered fleets into hiding. From one was born the first order. The other, we see in the trailer here. That’s the story to be told. He was the most powerful sith of his time and a master long game tactician. Also his master, Plagueis,,has studied and experimented with immortality so that’s in there too. Let’s see how that plays out.
I have no issue with using cannon at all in the films. I read some of the Zahn (sp?) books back in the 90s and enjoyed them.
My issue is using cannon created after 1983 that cheapens the pivotal moment of the film: Vader killed Palpatine. Yes! Even wikipedia still has him listed as dead, citing the film itself as reference:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palpatine ... f-SWVI_9-0 Enraged, the Emperor tortures Luke with Force lightning. Unable to bear the sight of his son in pain, Vader throws the Emperor into the Death Star’s reactor, killing him.[8]
IF they end up having Palps come back from death, I do hope the explanation is Plagueis and I hope it's Palps as he's always looked and sounded - not inhabiting somebody's body.
Still, to me, he died in 1983. My childhood says so

Was working on stolen force sensitive babies in clone wars and had some sort of sith facility on jakku that’s where the empires last stand was.
The Rey is a clone idea didn’t just appear. There’s loads of backup in the new canon you could play with to make t happen.
From a certain point of view of course
But none of this has been mentioned in the movies...
It’s happened in universe and current canon though. Canon is king.
Don’t know if they’ll go there but it seems the hidden fleet in the trailer and premise of Palpatine hiding is directly lifted from the earlier Zahn books that are no longer canon.

Snoke is your bridge here.
He was the prince regent until palpatine returned. That’s all I git right now I’m half asleep

Shut up!!!
I kinda like his idea. Rey is one of the force sensitive babies Palpatine was working on and she goes evil. Kylo saves the day renounces the name and becomes skywalker and keeper of the legacy
Of course you like this idea.
Let me tell you, Homer Simpson is cock of nothing!

I still think Kylo will be the Skywalker who rises. Doesn't mean Rey has to end up the villain, but I don't think there's going to be some big reveal like "OMG SHE'S LUKE'S DAUGHTER!!" That would be stupid lame. They've already hinted at a love story between the two of them, so I think this will end up with the two of them fighting together to defeat [insert bad guy], save the galaxy, make sweet love down by the fire, and have some Jedi babies.

Kylo does not get to be redeemed!!

But he did turn on Severus Snape or whoever that weird CGI dude was.
I can't dig through all the shit over last couple of days to see if this has been floated.
Rey is a female clone of Kylo, and thus, a Skywalker.
Evil Rey is another clone raised somewhere else.
Rey clones are all over the universe and will converge and fight Kylo.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?
I would find it very groan worthy if there was an army, but there being two clones, and them being clones of Kylo, would be pretty cool, especially if Rey and Evil Rey have a lightsaber duel.
It explains why they're linked. Kylo maybe knows from trying to see her parents, or maybe didn't see anything. Or maybe he saw some junkers that kidnapped her or were paid to drop her somewhere, so he doesn't know.
