watched Hotel Artemis on the train. It was good/almost great until the assassin storyline started up in earnest. Jodie Foster was brilliant, Bautista was funny, and Goldblum was wasted. Some of the casting was bad as Jenny Slate and her voice are suited for lighter movies and Zach Quinto was an embarrassment to his father and the film. Kenneth Choi was another bad pick but I blame that on the character and the writer who wrote it.
The basic plot of the film is like a more general thug John Wick and instead of an actual hotel it's a hospital. I liked the way the film brings you into that world and the near-future of the it at the same time. Less liked was the E-plot of the water and the riots and the backstory of the nurse character. A few parts of the film were just 'there' and no amount of explanation helped. I mean you're in the middle of the biggest riot ever and somehow a car gets transported to an empty parking garage (A) and then you drive it out of the parking garage with no problem (B). WTF?
I would have liked a better director with the script to have given some input instead of this writer/director effort.
EDIT: an actual piece of IMDB trivia that is funny?
The Russian word that appears at least twice (supposedly the manufacturer of a piece of electric equipment) is 'Covfefe' in Cyrillic letters.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Both of these movies have pivotal scenes revolving around an unfinished bridge construction.
The epitome of early 90s infrastructure dreams

I loved Speed but there's no way that bus makes that jump, as I'm sure your wife would agree.
