Totally agree. Brilliant movie.
Villeneuve is doing the Dune reboot, so I'm super hopeful about that.

Real sci fi bombs horribly. My favorite two movies lately were Blade Runner and Annihilation, and nobody else seemed to like them.
Blade Runner 2049 is a revelation and a masterpiece. Annihilation was interesting but super flawed.
DAMN we are super N´Sync today!

Blade Runner 2049?

Watching that one on Imax was like going into the Louvre. Pure art.

The Annihilation Trilogy is one of my favorite books ever and the movie was a remarkable achievement in that I liked it Almost as much. The bear scene in particular freaks me out. I listen to the score probably twice a week, if not more. So unsettling.

Dark City is a movie I've been thinking about a lot lately, especially since Rufus Sewell is in Man in the High Castle.

Is Dark City an all time best sci fi flick?
How about Gattaca?
Far from all time best, but both were decent. I wasn't a huge Gattaca fan

Gattaca for sure. I'm don't know if Sci-Fi is the best genre to describe Dark City. But it's a great fucking movie, either way.

Gattaca is great.

I remember I was starting to like Malice until she said she hated Gattaca, then I dropped her back to the bottom of the RM barrel.

I like Gattaca. I'm not as high on Dark City as a lot of people are. It's alright.

Speaking of Ethan Hawke, did anyone see that movie Predestination? That one is fucking nuts.

Is The Fountain sci-fi, or just Aronofsky weirdness?

.
There's some great imagery and scenes in that movie, and the overall brightly colored take on Lovecraftian type horror was pretty unique, I thought.

Speaking of good sci fi, I have yet to watch the 50th anniversary edition 4k UHD of 2001. I'm waiting for my next bottle of Oban and a rainy night.

Yeah time travel ones are hard to classify sometimes. Fantasy maybe? Which can still be sci fi
