I'm sorry to every good person in Britain but no deal Brexit would be just unbelievably fucking funny.

Tens of thousands of the streets already. Protesting this bizarre derailing of parliamentary democracy.Mickey wrote:I'm sorry to every good person in Britain but no deal Brexit would be just unbelievably fucking funny.
No deal brexit will be every single thing but funny. But they have to face up to the choice they made inverted commas democratically. The moment for that is now upon them.
Parliament returns this week. Expect it to be explosive and dramatic.

Re: Brexit
The latest I've read is that the government is about to hire a private army to deal with civil unrest in the event of a No Deal Brexit. Why a private army? What's wrong with the army? This is a full blown coup.
So basically, Johnson and May spent Trump's presidency fighting each other over how best to sell the NHS to Trump.

Why hasn’t this happened yet? Wasn’t Boris put in there for this exact purpose?

Re: Brexit
This is probably quite unpopular but I do think Trump's presidency has been funny. It's also been horrific, brutal, and mean, and has set the stage for some very real problems (lost time on climate change is, to me, the biggest, most existential one). But I don't think these things are mutually exclusive. The US is being run by a bumbling dementia patient with white nationalist sympathies--the first part of that sentence is endlessly funny. Similarly, I don't think Boris as PM is funny, I don't think the effects of Brexit or his PM-ship would be funny, but the narrative arc from Cameron's gamble to May's failure to fucking no-deal Brexit is funny!Rangi Guy wrote:I thought it would be funny back in 2016 if Trump got elected...... remember, if it is an election, Boris Johnson will be risking everything. If he loses, he will become the shortest serving prime minister in history.

Jeremy Corbyn becoming PM at the end of all of this would just be :::chef's kiss:::dimejinky99 wrote:remember, if it is an election, Boris Johnson will be risking everything. If he loses, he will become the shortest serving prime minister in history.

I’d like to agree. He’s been demonized and vilified for so long by the establishment it’s hard to see it happening.
All British media apart from bbc are owned by 8 billionaires. Even the lefty guardian has been attacking him. The papers and radio have tried constantly to get all kinds of shit to stick to him.
These aren’t normal circumstances though am he may just win.

Re: Brexit
Don't worry sir, I've got a cunning plan. I'm going to go to the only region in England which didn't vote for us when we tried to turn the English against black and brown people in the 60s, women in the 70s, LGBT people in the 80s, and immigrants since then, and I'm going to get them to vote for us as a protest vote against...trans people!dimejinky99 wrote:You’re going to see an election called tomorrow or certainly by weeks end.

The daily mail have got the latest very watered down Yellowhammer report, the one Gove was going to release but pulled yesterday in case it would cause alarm. It has the usual food, medicine and fuel shortages, civil unrest, travel delays, but on a subject we were discussing upthread, trucks queuing to Dover, it has the remarkable statement:
But the official assessment forecasts disruption at the Channel ports, with lorries queuing for up to two-and-a-half days to deal with new customs controls in France. It predicts that queues could stretch for more than 60 miles, blocking the M25 at the Dartford Crossing, ‘which would disrupt fuel supply in London and the South East’.
