And then that lightsaber stood up and said "fuck this shit" and walked all the way to Takodana.

Probably a good story there somewhere. Million ways to tell it.

In all seriousness, I totally agree. I'd love to get that official story.Anders wrote:Probably a good story there somewhere. Million ways to tell it.

Ahsoka was way down in the shaft watching Luke got his arm lobbed off, she caught the blade but knowing Vader Is hunting her she left in the safe keeping of Maz telling her one would come for it. She’ll know who when they come.

I don't think they'll do it, but there is a part of me that really wants Ahsoka to be the one to give it to Maz. That would be pretty great.

But why Maz, then? If she’s had it all these years, why not give it to Luke a long time ago?durdencommatyler wrote:I don't think they'll do it, but there is a part of me that really wants Ahsoka to be the one to give it to Maz. That would be pretty great.

I mean who knows? Could be she's never met Luke. Could be she can't find Luke? Could be she finds it after Luke went off to explore with Lor San Tekka. Could be Ahsoka knew Maz could keep it safe until Luke came looking for it. Could be a million different reasons.wease wrote:But why Maz, then? Re: Star Wars: Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker
Like, just off the top of my head...
Somehow the thing ends up in the unknown regions. Ahsoka finds it there while adventuring with Sabine. When she returns she goes to take it to Luke but he's gone and no one's sure where he went off to. Ahsoka has something to do and can't go galavanting around after Luke so she leaves it with Maz knowing that it'll be safe. Or maybe she has a Force vision/sensation that tells her that someone who needs it, a future hope, will come looking for it, and she'll need to find it with Maz.
That's just one idea that I wrote literally as I was typing with no real thought put into it.

It doesn't matter. They aren't going to go that route. But I think it would be cool. Point is, whatever they decide to do, there are plenty of ways to make it work and make it an interesting story.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker
The (essential and excellent) Star Wars Complete Locations book says of Maz and her castle
‘Maz sees every visitor as a source of stories, delighting in the experiences of grizzled war heroes, and wide eyed young dreamers alike. Her castles storehouses and vaults overflow with objects that have piqued her interest over the centuries; antique weapons wielded by lost heroes, indecipherable poems from extinct species, icons of vanished religions and maps to dead worlds.
Maz protects objects that speak to her, guided by a certainty that one day her relics will call out to other searchers’
That doesn’t explain how she got it obviously but the amount of traffic coming through and over a thousand years, probably endless ways it could have ended up there.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker
I was thinking about this idea that 3PO accesses some memories or something in this movie -- you know, that whole rumor. I don't like it on its face BUT... what if something happens to R2 (we haven't seen him at all in promo material) and they upload R2's memories INTO 3PO?
That would be fucking sad as shit and also kind of awesome.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker
We know Anakin is a Force Ghost.
We know this is the end of the "Skywalker Saga."
Anakin Skywalker is one of the most (and according to Lucas himself -- The SINGLE most) important characters in the saga.
There is ZERO chance Anakin is not in this movie.
