I keep reading about this theory with 3po. But i really dont understand why it might be important for 3po to access his memory?durdencommatyler wrote:I was thinking about this idea that 3PO accesses some memories or something in this movie -- you know, that whole rumor. I don't like it on its face BUT... what if something happens to R2 (we haven't seen him at all in promo material) and they upload R2's memories INTO 3PO?
That would be fucking sad as shit and also kind of awesome.

There is ZERO chance Anakin is not in this movie.

Could be a jillion reasons. Again, I'm not saying I'm on board with that at all. I think the idea is weak. But IF they're going to do it, using R2 would go a long way toward helping get onboard with the idea.Strat wrote:I keep reading about this theory with 3po. Dammit strat
It has to have Anakin. It’s the end of the saga. He’s the main and most important character running through all 9!!!

Completely irrelevant what Lucas has to say about any of this. Does not at all change the point. If anything it strengthens my point because Lucas is an old, grumpy, insane person who wants Star Wars to be about biology and the galaxy of cellular organisms.Strat wrote:*ftfydimejinky99 wrote:durdencommatyler wrote:We know Anakin is a Force Ghost.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker
When Lucas said the saga (6 eps at the time) was the story of Anakin Skywalker, he was wrong -- or rather, if that was truly his intended goal/vision/etc, he fucking failed. But that doesn't change or negate the role Anakin has played or how massively important he is to the whole thing. He was The Chosen One. He was born of the Force. The story/saga began with him.
They're going to include the Emperor but not Anakin? That seems... unlikely to me.
But hey I'm not working on the movie. Nobody asked for my opinion and I'm wrong all the time. Just saying that if Vegas has odds on old characters returning, I can't imagine Anakin isn't among the most likely/highest odds of returning.

This is most definitely correct. I'm really surprised it's not the prevailing theory.Leatherhead wrote:Rey's going to utilize the dark side. She'll fight with it, for the power, but she won't go dark side.

If it’s just that, and nothing else, it will be rather boring. But hopefully there is more to it.

I can't think of an upcoming film or TV show that I'm more excited about than The Rise of Skywalker.

I would love for Anakin to appear. It would really complete the nine movie saga.

My hesitancy and concern is that we were sold to care about all of these new characters. So I’m worried that this episode (by all speculation thus far) is going to be “ah well it’s actually still all about these characters”.
Not saying it can’t be done. I have no idea what the storyline is.
That is just my concern.

Totally valid concern. I'm not worried about that. JJ's back. These are his characters. All the action/choices/themes will filter through them. I'm certain of it.Strat wrote:My hesitancy and concern is that we were sold to care about all of these new characters. So, looking at that D23 sizzle reel again. Rey training in the woods. Saber cuts through a tree. I wonder if Luke is training her in that scene.
