I can't love an album without needing to see that band live? That's some weird logic to me.

Yeah, all of that wears off to a certain extent. I've never been a huge live music person anyway. But sub in theater and I thought the same when I moved here. You slowly learn how to avoid the crap and nonsense and focus in. I still eat incredible food but it's not what most people reading about the city are thinking about, it's not the high-end, fancy dining. It's fairly inexpensive, authentic cuisine. You learn to navigate that stuff living here.

Are the Dixie Chicks on that list?
They were a bucket list band that I finally saw. The show was incredible. So they fall into that "if the price is right" category for me now.

I've seen them every single other time they've played Brooklyn, buddy. Including the Hall of Fame induction.

Calm down, I'm just joshing you. I know that if I would tear up at the announcement of a new album or project, you can sure as shit bet I'd be going to see the tour that followed. But you've said you don't like live music that much.

I just really enjoy watching the artist perform for the people, not just a microphone in a studio.

Agreed.

I feel as though I haven't been to many shows over the last few years, which is in part because not many touring acts come through Adelaide (seemingly this goes in peaks and valleys as dependent on the whims and prejudices of promoters), but also because it started becoming more of a hassle than it was worth more often than not.

At this point it pretty much has to be a band or artist I'm incredibly motivated to see regardless of all the factors that conspire to lessen my enjoyment - and even then, sometimes it's not enough.

Aside from that, I think music is such an intensely personal thing, and one which I usually experience alone and on headphones, that it can feel strange and quite jarring to be sharing it with other people in a room and in real-time.

I'm sure the artists you guys love so much enjoy your Spotify streaming revenue.

I would love to see more bands in concert, but the cost and childcare arrangements eliminate all but my favorite bands.

Aw huh

The art itself is what excites me. So when a favorite band releases a new album of recorded music, that's the attraction and the draw. Hearing it live isn't necessary or terribly important to me.

Like I never saw The Beatles live. Doesn't change the joy I get putting on headphones and listening to their albums.

I don't listen to my records through headphones. Am I not maximizing my experience enough?
