SO nobody really even likes Return of the Jedi. Prequels have been talked about to death and im pretty certian we just tolerate them. Sequels most of you hate.

So, out of all of it you like 2 of the movies and the idea of star wars in general but.....? And you're still holding out hope for something you like? Or ? im confused.

Just for fun, what would TROS be like as a TROTJ «remake»?

I guess Rey is more like Luke was there (dark jedi), and in the end someone (Kylo?) ends the emperor for good.

J.J. Abrams:

“We’ve gotten a lot of flack for people saying, ‘Oh, Force Awakens was just a remake of New Hope,’ and while that was something that obviously was never the intention, it was about introducing new characters [and] using the old, and there’s a natural sense in any hero’s journey of certain tenants will come to play.”

“We very much wanted to make sure that we were not somehow inadvertently being so influenced by one thing, however the job of this film is to be the end of nine films. So we can’t ignore the fact that we come from Episodes I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VI, and VIII. So it wasn’t about, ‘Let’s choose that one. Let’s do a riff on that,’ it was more, ‘How do these stories culminate,’ and that was our job.”

The one "big" and obvious thing that I could see referencing or mirroring ROTJ is that there could be several force ghosts appearing to Rey at the end.

There will be thematic echoes. And I think there should be. But the success or failure of this movie won't be "it's too much like ROTJ!"

He sounds like a nice guy, but come on, the powers that be for the TFA production didn't read this script and realize it mirrors ANH a lot.

Disney just remade a new hope to take our money!!

Or

Disney didn’t even read the script!!

Which is it. It cannot be both.
