It's not that simple. The attack (which knocked out up to 5% of the world petroleum supply chain), alongside the frequent 'detainment' of ships by Iran and the escalating proxy wars in Yemen and with Hezbollah, is a dangerous play to bring the West back to the negotiating table and is somewhat unique in that outside of shooting wars, economic infrastructure is not frequently targeted by nation-states. The timing to US and Israeli elections where war-monger incumbents are struggling is no coincidence. The more frightening question is what will Iran do next?

I agree that war with them is ridiculous and is not gonna be supported on this alone by any majority.
