Other than Pearl Jam, who else is there?

And strat, depressing music is the best.

it is but im happy right now and i will be on a boat and paddle board on lake powell....I dont need that depressing shit right now!

I like this album because i think it was a good choice by Justin Vernon. After the huge success of Bon Iver, and the heavy handed nature of the music - This just feels like the right next move. Quick album of loose jams with friends and toss it out there....Could help bridge the gap for whatever comes next.

well, to be fair, many of these songs and this band pre-dates Bon Iver... and it wasn't recorded as quick as you might think. took a few sessions over the last 2-3 years.

I've actually really enjoyed the Shouting Matches album and listenned to it a few times. The closer "I Need a Change" is probably my favourite.

But then again I do like simple rhythm and bluesy stuff generally.

I just wrote it in the albums of 2013 thread and now I'm writing it here. The new Volcano Choir album is lovely. I didn't hear the other one.

I think I actually prefer this to Bon Iver's second one; only on my first listen though.

Bon Iver's second album isn't that great.

Na it's not. Bits and pieces of it are great. But this one was pretty consistently beautiful.

It's pretty damned good, for sure. But it pales in comparison to For Emma.
