I just beat Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels. I would have never beat it without save states. I always rolled my eyes at the premise that it was too hard for US players, but damn, ridiculous difficulty. I finally understand. One of the most difficult games that i’ve ever played.

Did anyone beat this one legitimately?

hell no. I remember playing it with my son and I found a warp room and it was like "go back two levels". There was, alternately, and hole in the ground so you could kill yourself instead of going backwards and there's just something there, I think, in the whole idea of the game.

I found a warp zone too. I think it went back to level 1. Overall, it felt like they didn't want players to succeed.

I'm still playing Rocket League alot. I got it on the PS4 now. Mostly playing competitive 1 vs. 1. I'm hovering around Gold status. When drunk I dip to a high Silver.

I haven't had much time in front of the TV, so I'm only a few hours into Control.

I just played a divisional playoff game on Madden 20. Chiefs v Steelers at Arrowhead. Chiefs pulled out the win with an overtime TD. Pat ended up throwing 413 yards and 5 TDs.

It shouldn't have gone to overtime. But I made a really stupid mistake at the start of the 3rd quarter that allowed them to tie the game AND they had an incredible 50 yard TD pass in the last second of the 4th to tie it up again.

It was actually a really fun game to play/watch. I wish real football gave me as much joy anymore as Madden does.

I beat the Mario All-Stars version of it on the SNES 20 years ago. Played it again recently and thought there's no way I'm going through this again.

Have you seen the Hy-Vee Pat Mahomes commercial? I do not think he has a future in acting.

He does fine just standing there next to Aaron Rodgers in that State Farm commercial.

Playing What the Golf? on Apple Arcade. This is such a fun game and the mechanics can turn on you so quickly that you're always wanting to get that next level or challenge. There's a Mario 1-1 level ffs and you can 'jump' on goomba heads and get coins from blocks. There's a Katamari Damacy mechanic. There's a level where you play as a rolling chair and you have to get to the end in par or less so there's a lot of momentum you have to play with on the wheels.

I think I've put 2-3 hours into it already and I've only had it one day.

I just know the first month is free and after that it's $4.99 a month. Haven't done the research outside of that.

I'm giving No Man's Sky a try, finally, and I really think I would enjoy this game if I had more time to sink into it. If I could have a 3-hour play session I could optimize my inventory, get through the tutorial, really explore (as opposed to just checking off to-do items), and I can see how it could be really fun. But it doesn't seem well-suited to 20-30-minute bursts, which is how I play games nowadays. I think I will try sticking with it, though.

So that Mario Kart game was released today and it has a $4/month sub on it. Luckily there's a free trial because if it's as bad as Dr. Mario was then no thank you sir.

A Link Between Worlds is really fun. Would love to see an HD version with a more vibrant color palette.

Playing this right before Links Awakening might be a mistake. The best handheld Zelda into the first handheld Zelda.

I probably won't get to Link's Awakening until the winter.

*$4.99

This is a weird overplay by Nintendo and poorly-timed considering the Apple Arcade and Google Play subscription models. Not to mention the fact that Switch Online is only $3 a month for a shitload of games.

I bet they end up dropping the price to $1 or $2.
