I thought it was "all the problems.. they will die with you..." like in a Present Tense sort of theme. Realize you can let them go and live in the present.dprival78 wrote:to me it sounds like "all the problems.. they won't die with you.." you know, more insignificance of man type-stuff.stip wrote:I really love that 'all the problems they will do with you bit' though
your death will soon arrive as she (nature) finally decides.. that you, in the grand scheme of things, aren't that important. that's what i've been hearing/getting out of it.
regardless.. this song keeps getting better and better. i sincerely hope to the god that doesn't exist that BoB doesn't fuck this one up.

This argument will go on and on until we have the actual lyrics written down.

My favorite part of the song is when Ed yells "FUCK!" at Mike. I hope they captured it well in studio

Also, I'm really encouraged that this song clocks in around five minutes. If it were on BS, that minute long jam at the end would have been cut.

Fair enough. We could easily get the famous PJ fade out at the 3:40 markharmless wrote:Well, we haven't heard the LB version yet so hold your horses.Cleverman wrote:Also, I'm really encouraged that this song clocks in around five minutes. This is definitely where I differ in the Brendan Obrien school of thought. I like when certain songs extend and jam out a bit (like Of The Earth or as Lightning Bolt seems to do). He seems to like them quick and concise. The more 5 minute songs the merrier!harmless wrote:Cleverman wrote:Fair enough. After having listened to this probably a few hundred times I'm pretty sure it's, "And your death will soon arrive as she finally decides that all her problems, they will die with you."Hatfield wrote:I thought it was "all the problems.. they will die with you..." like in a Present Tense sort of theme. And I am completely convinced this song is about the world and the human race, the beginning of life and the end of it. Mother nature turning on us to wipe us out so the world can heal itself yadda yadda...

He does? There have been quite a few longer songs on the records he's produced.sward wrote:This is definitely where I differ in the Brendan Obrien school of thought. Re: New Song: Lightning Bolt
After having listened to it a few times the only thing I still don't like is the LIGHTNING BOLT part of the chorus. Considering that's only about 6% of the song I'm okay with it.
And I bet that part will be better in the studio version because Ed sings it totally half assed at Wrigley. He always seems to look at his guitar and faces away from the mic halfway through singing LIGHTNING BOLT making it sound weaker than it probably is.
Hearing all the guitars and the bass clearly will also benefit the song. Stone is doing some cool stuff I think. Do you guys think this is a Stone song?
I really want to hear the studio version now.

I don't know what they are in actual fact; we've affectionately called them 'lasers' as they sound like Jean Michel Jarre.Lounge Lizard wrote:I forgotharmless wrote:Didn't I tell you last time you asked?![]()

Listen to Speed of Sound. At 0:06 you can hear one in the background go 'pew!', but more noticeably, listen from around 3:03. They go 'pew!' a couple of times before the song kicks into its last louder chorus (the second of what I'm calling the louder choruses). There are higher laser notes in the background throughout that section.
