I just got the two standalone issues of Kylo Ren and Snoke yesterday. I’ve not read them yet, but I hope some of that is answered in them.

Why wouldn't we have seen them up to this point, though? Everything that happened in the past two movies was pretty important stuff, so if you have these badass knights of Ren, why wouldn't you use them?

Snoke or Kylo had them off on a mission to find that hidden fleet we saw in the ROS trailer would be my guess.
