One worry.
Are they beating Vader to death?
Or is this all leading into him being in Kenobi?

Re: Rank the New Marvel Star Wars Comics!
I just got caught up with the main book, Darth Vader and Bounty Hunters. As reported, everything's taking place just after the ending of ESB. I was excited when I heard the news and I haven't been let down.
First, the main book. Luke is now wrestling with the knowledge Vader could be his father. Early in the first story arc, he goes back to Bespin to retrieve his lightsaber. Leia, Lando and Chewie accompany him, with Lando's goal to rescue Lobot. Luke does not find the lightsaber, but it does get found. The second arc has Leia trying to bring more groups into the Rebellion. Poe's mom and dad are in it, too. Overall a good book. Glad I'm reading it.
Next, Bounty Hunters. Fantastic book. This series was prefaced with a miniseries which brought a bounty hunter named Vallance that was introduce back in the first Marvel series way back when. I will admit to some heavy nostalgic love for the character as his first appearance was also my first Star Wars comic. So the Bounty Hunters series is really a series with him as a main character and other hunters as supporting characters. It's really good.
Finally, the creme de la creme. Darth Vader. He's coming at it from the other side. He knows Luke is his son and he wants to know how he's alive. Set immediately after his battle with Luke in Bespin, he is supposed to report back to the Emperor. But Vader's got other ideas. He wants to know how Luke is alive and who kept him from Vader. Most of the first arc is him teaming up/ fighting people from Naboo who now call themselves Amidalans. He's also trying to figure out who killed Padme since that would probably be the same person. He gets the answer to both with one word. Kenobi.
The next story arc has him facing the punishment of the Emperor for disobeying his orders. The Emperor destroys all the mechanical limbs he supplied him with after the big fight with Obi-Wan and dumps him back in the exact spot where he found him after that battle. He set his lightsaber down next to him. Basically the challenge is if he can figure out how to survive, he can keep being his apprentice. Oh yeah, he's not allowed to use the Force. If he does, Palpatine will kill him instantly. This book is fantastic as it's interwoven with past scenes from Anakin's life and it does a great job showing the internal conflict he's having.
All the books are good and I enjoy each of them, but the Vader series is just a step above the other for what it's bringing to the legend of Darth Vader.

I'm really shocked we aren't getting a Doctor Aphra show. It seems like a no brainer sure fire hit. Its got everything for everyone really. Unless they are thinking movie.

They’re not doing any shows from that time period.

I’m not so sure. Every live action thing they’ve done has taken place outside the timeframe of each trilogy. Rogue One and Solo are both BEFORE Star Wars and Mandalorian is AFTER RotJ. Everything they’ve announced has been either between trilogies or well before them. I’m thinking they’re considering those times as off limits. For whatever reason.epilogue wrote:They will once they establish the other stuff, I bet.wease wrote:They’re not doing any shows from that time period.

Aphra checks too many boxes to leave on the shelf. They could always just have her interact with Vader and leave the others alone for a few seasons. Someday hopefully.

Re: Rank the New Marvel Star Wars Comics!
Chuck Wendig did say he wrote a ton of Luke stuff for his Aftermath trilogy and the story group made him cut all of it. So maybe there's something they want kept tucked away. Also, they've been reluctant to "adapt" the comics and books to a visual medium. I'm didn't/don't read Aphra. Is her story over? Are there a ton of questions? It's reasonable to assume they won't adapt the story in the comics, but could they tell new Aphra stories?wease wrote:I’m not so sure. It'll be interesting to see how much the Ahsoka show reveals about her time during the OT. Because that could to a long way toward informing us about how they could handle Aphra.

So there's plenty of story to tell. It'll be interesting to see if she ever makes the jump from page to screen. You could be right about that era though. Nothing would surprise me from Disney.
Though, it really does seem like they're going full Marvel-model. Which means, eventually, they'll hit a phase where they need to explore that era. Aphra will be a perfect way to do that.
